When the UE receives a periodic control message, the UE may perform signal quality measurements on both a multimedia broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) subframe and a non-MBSFN subframe of a frame received from the BS. When the UE receives an aperiodic control message, the UE may perform a signal quality measurement on either a MBSFN subframe or a non-MBSFN subframe.
