If the temperature of the secure device drops below a first temperature, then the heater heats the secure processor. If AC power is lost, such as in a power outage, energy for the heater is provided by a secure battery, otherwise the heater is powered from an external source. The heater barely provides enough heat to keep the temperature of the secure processor at the first temperature under normal heat transfer conditions.
