A device module determines one or more non-critical devices of a plurality of devices of a software defined network. A non-critical device is determined based on one or more network characteristics of the device. A usage module receives a bandwidth utilization for each of the one or more non-critical devices. The bandwidth utilization includes an amount of network traffic associated with a non-critical device. A power module shuts down at least a portion of the software defined network comprising the one or more non-critical devices in response to the bandwidth utilizations for the one or more non-critical devices being less than a threshold bandwidth. The power module restarts portions of the software defined network that were shut down in response to bandwidth utilizations for different portions of the network exceeding a threshold bandwidth."},"analysis":{"summary":null,"layman_explanation":null,"technical_analysis":null,"business_analysis":null,"faqs":null,"topics":[],"tech_cluster":null},"seo":{"title":"On-demand power management in a networked computing environment","description":"Methods, apparatuses, program products, and systems are disclosed for on-demand power management in a networked computing environment.
