An image processing module receives a scan of a non-rigid complex object captured by a sensor, a 3D model corresponding to the object, and a camera trace, where the scan includes one or more holes. The module cleans the scan and the 3D model using the camera trace. The module deforms the cleaned 3D model to the cleaned scan and matches the deformed 3D model to the cleaned scan.
