1. A processor implemented method for generating flexible and extensible compressed connection descriptions based on connection descriptions of physical cable and virtual cable connections of an operation environment, the method executed by a management system including a processor and a memory, the method comprising: building, by the management system, a schema via establishing source and destination attributes of the connection descriptions, wherein the source and destination attributes comprise record type, location type, ccin type, and part number type attributes; generating, utilizing the schema by the management system, a record of the connection descriptions, wherein the schema is stored in an XML, document; generating a set of substitution rules by using range expressions and substitution variables, wherein each rule of the set of substitution rule comprises an ID, a key, and a value, wherein the value defines a pattern string that includes a variable name used in substitution, wherein the set of substitution rules is stored in the XML document stored in the memory; utilizing the set of substitution rules to associate value assignments to the connection descriptions, wherein the value assignments change the connection descriptions within the record to produce the compressed connection descriptions; parsing the record to identify one of the compressed connection descriptions; locating a predefined wiring rule from the set of substitution rules based on a corresponding variable name utilizing the value within the one of the compressed connection descriptions, wherein the predefined wiring rule ensures no duplicate connections are generated in the record; and generating a final value for the one of the compressed connection descriptions utilizing the predefined wiring rule.
