Configuration Management for a Resource with Prerequisites

1. A method for providing configuration management of resources for a computing system that includes a plurality of network devices, wherein execution of instructions by one or more processors perform actions, comprising: employing one or more state machines to use one or more attributes of a resource for the computing system to determine one or more prerequisites for the resource, wherein the one or more state machines provide instructions for moving the resource from a current state to a target state; determining one or more assumptions for the computing system using the one or more prerequisites that are unsatisfied and whether the resource or the computing system is in a non-operational mode, wherein the one or more assumptions include one or more state transitions that place the computing system in the target state; and providing a report that includes the one or more assumptions to a user.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein using the one or more attributes further comprises generating one or more requirement functions to determine the one or more prerequisites.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more assumptions correspond to one or more requirement functions for the computing system.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising defining a target state of the computing system based on the one or more attributes of the resource.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising employing the computing system in the non-operational mode to perform other actions regardless whether the one or more prerequisites are satisfied and the one or more state transitions have occurred.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more state transitions are determined by the current state of the computing system and the target state.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising employing a convergence of another resource with the resource to determine one or more other assumptions based on one or more other prerequisites that are unsatisfied for the other resource.

8. A system for providing configuration management of resources for a computing system of a plurality of network devices, comprising: one or more network devices that employ one or more processors to execute instructions that perform actions, comprising: employing one or more state machines to use one or more attributes of a resource for the computing system to determine one or more prerequisites for the resource, wherein the one or more state machines provide instructions for moving the resource from a current state to a target state; determining one or more assumptions for the computing system using the one or more prerequisites that are unsatisfied and whether the resource or the computing system is in a non-operational mode, wherein the one or more assumptions include one or more state transitions that place the computing system in the target state; and providing a report that includes the one or more assumptions to a user.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein using the one or more attributes further comprises generating one or more requirement functions to determine the one or more prerequisites.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more assumptions correspond to one or more requirement functions for the computing system.

11. The system of claim 8 , further comprising defining a target state of the computing system based on the one or more attributes of the resource.

12. The system of claim 8 , further comprising employing the computing system in the non-operational mode to perform other actions regardless whether the one or more prerequisites are satisfied and the one or more state transitions have occurred.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more state transitions are determined by the current state of the computing system and the target state.

14. The system of claim 8 , further comprising employing a convergence of another resource with the resource to determine one or more other assumptions based on one or more other prerequisites that are unsatisfied for the other resource.

15. A processor readable non-transitory storage media that includes instructions for providing configuration management of resources for a computing system of one or more network devices, wherein the execution of the instructions by one or more processors enables actions, comprising: employing one or more state machines to use one or more attributes of a resource for the computing system to determine one or more prerequisites for the resource, wherein the one or more state machines provide instructions for moving the resource from a current state to a target state; determining one or more assumptions for the computing system using the one or more prerequisites that are unsatisfied and whether the resource or the computing system is in a non-operational mode, wherein the one or more assumptions include one or more state transitions that place the computing system in the target state; and providing a report that includes the one or more assumptions to a user.

16. The media of claim 15 , wherein using the one or more attributes further comprises generating one or more requirement functions to determine the one or more prerequisites.

17. The media of claim 15 , wherein the one or more assumptions correspond to one or more requirement functions for the computing system.

18. The media of claim 15 , further comprising defining a target state of the computing system based on the one or more attributes of the resource.

19. The media of claim 15 , further comprising employing the computing system in the non-operational mode to perform other actions regardless whether the one or more prerequisites are satisfied and the one or more state transitions have occurred.

20. The media of claim 15 , wherein the one or more state transitions are determined by the current state of the computing system and the target state.
