1

1. A method implemented on a computer having at least one processor, storage, and communication platform for updating an URL, comprising the steps of: accessing from an Internet source, via a publicly available network path, a first webpage in a first language; identifying, from the first webpage in the first language, a link represented by an original URL, wherein the original URL is associated with a second webpage in the first language; obtaining an updated URL corresponding to the original URL, wherein the updated URL is associated with a translated second webpage in a second language; generating a search engine optimized path to be included in the updated URL based on one or more search engine relevant elements present in the content of the translated second webpage in the second language; and providing the updated URL in a translated first webpage in the second language.

2

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the obtaining comprises: identifying one or more search engine relevant elements present in the second webpage in the first language associated with the original URL; receiving the one or more search engine relevant elements in the second language translated from the identified one or more search engine relevant elements in the first language; converting the one or more search engine relevant elements in the second language into a URL friendly format to generate the search engine optimized path; and incorporating the search engine optimized path into the original URL to generate the updated URL.

3

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more search engine relevant elements are translated via human translation aided by machine translation.

4

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more search engine relevant elements are translated via machine translation edited by a human translator.

5

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more search engine relevant elements include at least one of: a title of the translated second webpage, a translation of a meta-description corresponding to the second webpage in the first language, a word appearing in the translated second webpage, and a combination thereof.

6

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the updated URL was pre-generated.

7

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving a request for web content in the second language represented by the updated URL; obtaining the original URL corresponding to the updated URL; assessing web content in the first language represented by the original URL; generating the web content in the second language via translation of the accessed web content in the first language; and sending the web content in the second language as a response to the request.

8

8. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having information recorded thereon for updating an URL, wherein the information, when read by the machine, causes the machine to perform the following: accessing from an Internet source, via a publicly available network path, a first webpage in a first language; identifying, from the first webpage in the first language, a link represented by an original URL, wherein the original URL is associated with a second webpage in the first language; obtaining an updated URL corresponding to the original URL, wherein the updated URL is associated with a translated second webpage in a second language; generating a search engine optimized path to be included in the updated URL based on one or more search engine relevant elements present in the content of the translated second webpage in the second language; and providing the updated URL in a translated first webpage in the second language.

9

9. The medium of claim 8 , wherein the obtaining comprises: identifying one or more search engine relevant elements present in the second webpage in the first language associated with the original URL; receiving the one or more search engine relevant elements in the second language translated from the identified one or more search engine relevant elements in the first language; converting the one or more search engine relevant elements in the second language into a URL friendly format to generate the search engine optimized path; and incorporating the search engine optimized path into the original URL to generate the updated URL.

10

10. The medium of claim 9 , wherein the one or more search engine relevant elements are translated via human translation aided by machine translation.

11

11. The medium of claim 9 , wherein the one or more search engine relevant elements are translated via machine translation edited by a human translator.

12

12. The medium of claim 8 , wherein the one or more search engine relevant elements include at least one of: a title of the translated second webpage, a translation of a meta-description corresponding to the second webpage in the first language, a word appearing in the translated second webpage, and a combination thereof.

13

13. The medium of claim 8 , wherein the updated URL was pre-generated.

14

14. The medium of claim 8 , wherein the information, when read by the machine, causes the machine to further perform the following: receiving a request for web content in the second language represented by the updated URL; obtaining the original URL corresponding to the updated URL; assessing web content in the first language represented by the original URL; generating the web content in the second language via translation of the accessed web content in the first language; and sending the web content in the second language as a response to the request.

15

15. A system for updating an URL, comprising: at least one processor; memory storing instructions; and communication platform; wherein when the at least one processor reads the instructions, the at least one processor is configured to: access, via the communication platform, a first webpage in a first language from an Internet source via a publicly available network path, identify, from the first webpage in the first language, a link represented by an original URL, wherein the original URL is associated with a second webpage in the first language, obtain an updated URL corresponding to the original URL, wherein the updated URL is associated with a translated second webpage in a second language, generate a search engine optimized path to be included in the updated URL based on one or more search engine relevant elements present in the content of the translated second webpage in the second language, and provide the updated URL in a translated first webpage in the second language.
