Plain English Translation

The system is designed for range of motion analysis and balance training during exercise. It integrates sensors into an exercise machine to monitor a user's posture and movement. A torso angle sensor detects deviations from vertical, while additional sensors track the range of motion of specific body parts. The system includes a range of motion analyzer that processes sensor data, compares it to statistical norms for different age groups, and evaluates the user's performance against their own historical data. It generates a profile of the user's range of motion, displaying results in graphical or textual form to provide feedback. Additionally, a balance trainer uses the torso angle sensor to calculate the likelihood of stumbling or falling based on the user's posture and movement rate. If a risk is detected, the system issues a warning to help the user learn to anticipate and correct balance issues. The system enhances exercise effectiveness by combining real-time feedback with personalized training insights.

Claim 2

Original Legal Text

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the user's data is stored to track changes in range of motion and balance over time.

Plain English Translation

The system monitors and analyzes a user's physical performance, specifically tracking changes in range of motion and balance over time. It collects data from sensors or input devices to measure the user's movements, posture, and stability. The system processes this data to assess improvements or declines in the user's physical condition, providing insights into their progress or areas needing attention. By storing historical data, the system enables long-term tracking, allowing users or healthcare professionals to identify trends, evaluate treatment effectiveness, or adjust rehabilitation programs. The system may include features such as automated alerts for significant deviations from expected progress or personalized recommendations based on the tracked data. This technology is particularly useful in physical therapy, sports training, or aging care, where monitoring mobility and balance is critical for recovery or performance optimization. The system ensures data integrity and security while providing actionable insights to support user health and well-being.

Claim 3

Original Legal Text

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a computing device capable of rendering a virtual reality or mixed reality environment wherein the exercise machine, computing device, and the system are configured to operate in conjunction, providing exercise with a virtual reality or mixed reality environment and range of motion analysis and balance training.

Plain English Translation

This invention relates to a system integrating an exercise machine with a computing device to provide virtual reality (VR) or mixed reality (MR) environments for exercise, range of motion analysis, and balance training. The exercise machine is designed to support physical activities while the computing device renders immersive VR or MR environments. The system synchronizes the exercise machine and computing device to enhance user engagement and training effectiveness. The VR or MR environment may include interactive elements that respond to the user's movements, providing real-time feedback and adaptive challenges. Additionally, the system analyzes the user's range of motion and balance during exercise, offering insights into performance and areas for improvement. The integration of hardware and software components ensures seamless operation, allowing users to perform exercises in a dynamic, immersive setting while receiving data-driven feedback to optimize their training. This approach combines physical fitness with digital interaction, making workouts more engaging and personalized.

Claim 4

Original Legal Text

4. A method for range of motion analysis and balance training while exercising, comprising the steps of: detecting and characterizing the angle of a user's torso away from vertical position, using a sensor and exercise machine; detecting and characterizing the range of motion of at least one portion of a user's body, using an additional sensor and an exercise machine; receiving or obtaining statistical data regarding range of motion norms for people of different ages, using a range of motion analyzer; receiving or obtaining stored user profile data for the current user of the compatible exercise machine, using a range of motion analyzer; performing a plurality of analyses of the user's range of motion, using a range of motion analyzer; creating a profile of the user's range of motion relative to statistical norms, prior history, and the virtual reality or mixed reality environment associated with the user's exercise, using a range of motion analyzer; displaying the results to the user in graphical or textual form; informing a user if they are likely to fall, based at least in part on data from the first sensor and the rate of change of that data, using a balance trainer and a first sensor; and displaying a warning to a user in graphical or textual form in order to improve a user's ability to anticipate and correct stumbles or falls through improved exercise form, using a balance trainer and display.

Plain English Translation

This invention relates to a system for analyzing range of motion and improving balance during exercise. The system combines sensor-based motion tracking with exercise equipment to monitor a user's posture and movement. A primary sensor detects and measures the angle of the user's torso relative to a vertical position, while additional sensors track the range of motion of specific body parts. The system compares the user's movements against statistical norms for different age groups and their own historical data, generating a personalized profile. This analysis is performed in real-time within a virtual or mixed reality exercise environment. The results are displayed graphically or textually to provide feedback. Additionally, the system includes a balance trainer that uses sensor data to predict potential falls by analyzing torso angle and its rate of change. If a fall risk is detected, the system issues warnings to help the user correct their posture or movement, enhancing stability and reducing injury risk. The goal is to improve exercise form, prevent falls, and tailor training to individual needs.

Claim 5

Original Legal Text

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the user's data is stored to track changes in range of motion and balance over time.

Plain English Translation

This invention relates to a system for monitoring and analyzing a user's physical performance, specifically tracking changes in range of motion and balance over time. The system collects data from sensors, such as motion sensors or wearable devices, to measure the user's movements and balance. The collected data is processed to determine metrics related to the user's range of motion and balance, which are then stored in a database. The stored data is analyzed to identify trends, improvements, or declines in the user's physical performance over time. This allows for long-term monitoring of the user's condition, enabling personalized feedback, rehabilitation progress tracking, or fitness improvement assessments. The system may also include features for comparing the user's performance against baseline measurements or predefined standards. The stored data can be accessed by healthcare professionals, trainers, or the user themselves to make informed decisions about treatment, training, or lifestyle adjustments. The invention aims to provide a comprehensive tool for assessing and improving physical health by quantifying and tracking key performance metrics over extended periods.
