Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A communication method, comprising: starting a counter associated with a backoff process for sensing a channel for sending data on an unlicensed frequency band, wherein the sensing the channel for sending the data comprises determining whether the channel is available for sending the data on the channel; performing the sensing, for the sending the data, on the channel; performing sensing, for sending a reference signal, on the channel, wherein the sensing the channel for sending the reference signal comprises determining whether the channel is available for sending the reference signal on the channel; sending the reference signal in response to the sensing the channel for sending the reference signal indicating that the channel is idle; and suspending the counter during the sending the reference signal.
2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising: resuming the counter after sending the reference signal; and sensing the channel for sending the data according to the resumed counter.
3. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the resuming the counter comprises resuming the counter after the reference signal is entirely sent.
4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the sending the reference signal comprises: sending the reference signal in a time window, wherein the time window has a period of 40 ms or 80 ms.
5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the reference signal comprises a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS).
6. The method according to claim 5 , wherein the reference signal further comprises a cell-specific reference signal (CRS).
7. The method according to claim 5 , wherein the reference signal is associated with at least one of cell identification, cell measurement or cell synchronization.
8. A base station, comprising: one or more processors; and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program to be executed by the one or more processors, the program comprising instructions to: start a counter associated with a backoff process for sensing a channel for sending data, wherein the sensing the channel for sending the data comprises determining whether the channel is available for sending the data on the channel; performing the sensing, for sending the data, on the channel; performing sensing, for sending a reference signal, on the channel, wherein the sensing the channel for sending the reference signal comprises determining whether the channel is available for sending the reference signal on the channel; send the reference signal in response to the sensing the channel for sending the reference signal indicating that the channel is idle; and suspend the counter during the sending the reference signal.
9. The base station according to claim 8 , wherein the program further comprises instructions to: resume the counter after sending the reference signal; and sense the channel for sending the data according to the resumed counter.
10. The base station according to claim 9 , wherein the instructions to resume the counter include instructions to resume the counter after the reference signal is entirely sent.
11. The base station according to claim 8 , wherein the instructions to send the reference signal include instructions to: send the reference signal in a time window, wherein the time window has a period of 40 ms or 80 ms.
12. The base station according to claim 8 , wherein the reference signal comprises a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS).
13. The base station according to claim 12 , wherein the reference signal further comprises a cell-specific reference signal (CRS).
14. The base station according to claim 12 , wherein the reference signal is associated with at least one of cell identification, cell measurement or cell synchronization.
15. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program to be executed by one or more processors, the program comprising instructions to: start a counter associated with a backoff process for sensing a channel for sending data, wherein the sensing the channel for sending the data comprises determining whether the channel is available for sending the data on the channel; perform the sensing, for sending the data, on the channel; perform sensing, for sending a reference signal, on the channel, wherein the sensing the channel for sending the reference signal comprises determining whether the channel is available for sending the reference signal on the channel; send the reference signal in response to the sensing the channel for sending the reference signal indicating that the channel is idle; and suspend the counter during the sending the reference signal.
16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 15 , wherein the program further comprises instructions to resume the counter after sending the reference signal; and sense the channel for sending the data according to the resumed counter.
17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 15 , wherein the instructions to send the reference signal include instructions to: send the reference signal in a time window, wherein the time window has a period of 40 ms or 80 ms.
18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 15 , wherein the reference signal comprises a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS).
19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 18 , wherein the reference signal further comprises a cell-specific reference signal (CRS).
20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 18 , wherein the reference signal is associated with at least one of cell identification, cell measurement or cell synchronization.
