1

1. An industrial controller system comprising: a plurality of configurable input and output ports; a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith; and one or more processors configured to execute the program instructions to cause the industrial controller system to: execute a configuration, wherein the configuration includes communications specifications associated with one or more of the plurality of configurable input and output ports; gather data during execution of the configuration; execute, by the one or more processors of the industrial controller system, a web server configured to generate and provide a graphical user interface including options for updates to operation of the industrial controller system; receive a connection, via the web server executed by the industrial controller system, from one or more devices local to the industrial controller system; generate and provide, via the web server executed by the industrial controller system, the graphical user interface to the one or more devices local to the industrial controller system; and receive, via the graphical user interface provided by the industrial controller system and the web server executed by the industrial controller system, a user input to update operation of the industrial controller system.

2

2. The industrial controller system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute the program instructions to further cause the industrial controller system to: update operation of the industrial controller system in response to receiving the user input.

3

3. The industrial controller system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more devices are configured to render the graphical user interface, and receive the user input, via a web browser.

4

4. The industrial controller system of claim 1 , wherein the web server is further configured to provide the graphical user interface including data gathered by the industrial controller system.

5

5. The industrial controller system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute the program instructions to further cause the industrial controller system to: locally store the data gathered during execution of the configuration; and transmit the data gathered for remote storage and analysis.

6

6. The industrial controller system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute the program instructions to further cause the industrial controller system to: receive, via the graphical user interface and the web server, an updated configuration; and execute the updated configuration.

7

7. The industrial controller system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute the program instructions to further cause the industrial controller system to: execute a second web server to provide secure communications with a remote computing device; receive an updated configuration via the second web server; execute the updated configuration; gather data during execution of the updated configuration; locally store the data gathered during execution of the updated configuration; and transmit the data gathered during execution of the updated configuration for remote storage and analysis.

8

8. The industrial controller system of claim 1 , wherein: the configuration further includes program code, executing the configuration comprises evaluation of gathered data based at least in part on the program code, and the one or more processors are configured to execute the program instructions to further cause the industrial controller system to: output a signal via one or more of the plurality of configurable input and output ports in response to the evaluation of the gathered data.

9

9. A computer-implemented method comprising: by one or more processors executing program instructions on an industrial controller system: executing a configuration, wherein the configuration includes communications specifications associated with one or more of a plurality of configurable input and output ports of the industrial controller system; gathering data during execution of the configuration; executing, by the one or more processors of the industrial controller system, a web server configured to generate and provide a graphical user interface including options for updates to operation of the industrial controller system; receiving a connection, via the web server executed by the industrial controller system, from one or more devices local to the industrial controller system; generating and providing, via the web server executed by the industrial controller system, the graphical user interface to the one or more devices local to the industrial controller system; and receiving, via the graphical user interface provided by the industrial controller system and the web server executed by the industrial controller system, a user input to update operation of the industrial controller system.

10

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 further comprising: by the one or more processors executing program instructions: updating operation of the industrial controller system in response to receiving the user input.

11

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more devices are configured to render the graphical user interface, and receive the user input, via a web browser.

12

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , wherein the web server is further configured to provide the graphical user interface including data gathered by the industrial controller system.

13

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 further comprising: by the one or more processors executing program instructions: locally storing the data gathered during execution of the configuration; and transmitting the data gathered for remote storage and analysis.

14

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 further comprising: by the one or more processors executing program instructions: receiving, via the graphical user interface and the web server, an updated configuration; and executing the updated configuration.

15

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 further comprising: by the one or more processors executing program instructions: executing a second web server to provide secure communications with a remote computing device; receiving an updated configuration via the second web server; executing the updated configuration; gathering data during execution of the updated configuration; locally storing the data gathered during execution of the updated configuration; and transmitting the data gathered during execution of the updated configuration for remote storage and analysis.

16

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , wherein: the configuration further includes program code, executing the configuration comprises evaluation of gathered data based at least in part on the program code, and the computer-implemented method further comprises: outputting a signal via one or more of the plurality of configurable input and output ports in response to the evaluation of the gathered data.
