Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method for receiving a device-to-device (D2D) discovery signal in a wireless communication system, the method performed by a user equipment (UE) and comprising: receiving, from a network, a first sidelink discovery gap configuration which informs the UE of a plurality of parameters for generating a sidelink discovery gap, wherein a validity parameter for indicating whether the gap generation is allowed is included in the plurality of parameters; wherein based only on the UE not being capable of receiving the D2D discovery signal without the sidelink discovery gap, the UE transmits a request message for receiving the first sidelink discovery gap configuration, receiving the D2D discovery signal, without monitoring a downlink signal, within the sidelink discovery gap; receiving, from the network, a second discovery gap configuration which includes sidelink discovery gap release information; and releasing the sidelink discovery gap based on the second discovery gap configuration, wherein the sidelink discovery gap is configured in units of subframes, wherein the first sidelink discovery gap configuration includes a plurality of sidelink gap patterns, wherein a sidelink gap pattern among the plurality of sidelink gap patterns is dynamically activated and deactivated by a dynamic signal received by the UE, and wherein the plurality of parameters further includes a first parameter which informs the UE of a maximum number of subframes for generating the sidelink discovery gap.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the UE transmits sidelink UE information to the network before receiving the first sidelink discovery gap configuration.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the first sidelink discovery gap configuration and the second sidelink discovery gap configuration is received through a radio resource control (RRC) configuration.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the downlink signal is a signal received from the network and the D2D discovery signal is a signal received from another UE.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the UE receives the first sidelink discovery gap configuration without transmitting the request message, based only on the UE being capable of receiving the D2D discovery signal without the sidelink discovery gap.
6. A user equipment (UE) comprising: a transceiver; and a processor operatively coupled to the transceiver, and wherein the processor is further configured to: receive, from a network, a first sidelink discovery gap configuration which informs the UE of a plurality of parameters for generating a sidelink discovery gap, wherein a validity parameter for indicating whether the gap generation is allowed is included in the plurality of parameters; wherein based only on the UE not being capable of receiving the D2D discovery signal without the sidelink discovery gap, the UE transmits a request message for receiving the first sidelink discovery gap configuration, receive the D2D discovery signal, without monitoring a downlink signal, within the sidelink discovery gap; receive, from the network, a second discovery gap configuration which includes sidelink discovery gap release information; and release the sidelink discovery gap based on the second discovery gap configuration, wherein the sidelink discovery gap is configured in units of subframes, wherein the first sidelink discovery gap configuration includes a plurality of sidelink gap patterns, wherein a sidelink gap pattern among the plurality of sidelink gap patterns is dynamically activated and deactivated by a dynamic signal received by the UE, wherein the plurality of parameters further includes a first parameter which informs the UE of a maximum number of subframes for generating the sidelink discovery gap.
7. The UE of claim 6 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit sidelink UE information to the network before receiving the first sidelink discovery gap configuration.
8. The UE of claim 6 , wherein each of the first sidelink discovery gap configuration and the second sidelink discovery gap configuration is received through a radio resource control (RRC) configuration.
9. The UE of claim 6 , wherein the downlink signal is a signal received from the network and the D2D discovery signal is a signal received from another UE.
