Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method for managing a database storage of images, the method comprising: storing in a plurality of portions of an image database a plurality of image data, wherein each particular portion of the image database stores image data received in association with a particular user account associated with the particular portion of the image database; determining that a first image data stored in a first portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with a first user account comprises a first depiction of a face of a person; creating a facial recognition template based on the first image data stored in the first portion of the plurality of portions of the image database; receiving in association with a second user account an upload of a second image data to be stored in a second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with the second user account, wherein the second account and the first account are separated by a predetermined number of degrees of separation, wherein the predetermined number of degrees of separation is at least one; applying the facial recognition template to the second image data stored in the second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with the second user account to determine that the second image data comprises a second depiction of the face of the person depicted in the first image data; storing a link between the second image data and the first user account in the second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with a second user account; and transmitting to the second account data proposing linking the second image data with the first user account.
2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving a confirmation that the second image data is associated with the first user account.
3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the confirmation is received in association with the second user account.
4. The method of claim 2 , further comprising: causing the second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with a second user account to store the confirmation that the second image data is associated with the first user account.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined number of degrees of separation is equal to one.
6. The method of claim 1 further comprising: storing the facial recognition template based on the first image data stored in the first portion of the plurality of portions of the image database.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein creating the facial recognition template comprises performing at least one of: (a) Principle Component Analysis (PCA) based on the first image data; (b) Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) based on the first image data; and (c) Bayesian Intrapersonal Extrapersonal Classification (BIC) based on the first image data.
8. The method of claim 1 further comprising: transmitting the second image data to a device associated with the second account.
9. A server system for managing a database storage of images, the server system comprising: memory circuitry configured to: store in a plurality of portions of an image database a plurality of image data, wherein each particular portion of the image database stores first image data received in association with a particular user account associated with the particular portion of the image database; processing circuitry configured to: determine that a first image data stored in a first portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with a first user account comprises a first depiction of a face of a person; create a facial recognition template based on the first image data stored in the first portion of the plurality of portions of the image database; receive in association with a second user account an upload of a second image data to be stored in a second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with the second user account, wherein the second account and the first account are separated by less than a predetermined number of degrees of separation, wherein the predetermined number of degrees of separation is at least one; apply the facial recognition template to the second image data stored in the second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with the second user account to determine that the second image data comprises a second depiction of the face of the person depicted in the first image data; store a link between the second image data and the first user account in the second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with a second user account; and networking circuitry is further configured to: transmit to the second account data proposing linking the second image data with the first user account.
10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: receive a confirmation that the second image data is associated with the first user account.
11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the confirmation is received in association with the second user account.
12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: cause the second portion of the plurality of portions of the image database associated with a second user account to store the confirmation that the second image data is associated with the first user account.
13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the predetermined number of degrees of separation is equal to one.
14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the memory circuitry is further configured to: store the facial recognition template based on the first image data stored in the first portion of the plurality of portions of the image database.
15. The system of claim 9 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to create the facial recognition template by performing at least one of: (a) Principle Component Analysis (PCA) based on the first image data; (b) Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) based on the first image data; and (c) Bayesian Intrapersonal Extrapersonal Classification (BIC) based on the first image data.
16. The system of claim 9 , wherein the networking circuitry is further configured to: transmit the second image data to a device associated with the second account.
