Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. An access point, comprising: a processing resource; and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to cause the processing resource to: perform a management system search using a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP); determine, in view of the management system search, whether a management system discovered is a controller; and select one of a first role within a centralized local area network and a second role within a distributed local area network based on determining whether the management system is the controller, wherein the first role within the centralized local area network is selected when the management system is the controller.
2. The access point of claim 1 , wherein the processing resource, when determining whether the management system discovered is the controller, is further to: determine whether the management system discovered is a distributed management system.
3. The access point of claim 2 , wherein the processing resource, when selecting one of the first role and the second role, is further to: select the second role within the distributed local area network when the management system is the distributed management system.
4. The access point of claim 1 , wherein the management system search is a first management system search, wherein the processing resource is further to perform a second management system search using a domain name system (DNS) and wherein the processing resource, when determining whether the management system discovered the controller, is further to: determine whether the management system discovered is the controller in view of the second management system search.
5. The access point of claim 4 , wherein the processing resource is further to perform a third management system search using a local broadcast service and wherein the processing resource, when determining whether the management system discovered is the controller, is further to: determine whether the management system discovered is the controller is further in view of the third management system search.
6. The access point of claim 5 , wherein the controller is one of a plurality of controllers, wherein the processing resource, when determining whether the management system discovered is the controller, is further to: determine that the plurality of controllers is discovered, and wherein the first role within the centralized local area network is selected when the plurality of controllers is discovered.
7. The access point of claim 6 , wherein selecting the first role includes connecting to a prioritized controller of the plurality of controllers, wherein the prioritized controller is selected by prioritizing a first set of controllers discovered by the first search over a second set of controllers discovered by the second search, wherein the first and second set are a part of the plurality of controllers.
8. The access point of claim 7 , wherein the prioritized controller is selected by further prioritizing the second set of controllers over a third set of controllers discovered by the third search, wherein the third set of controllers are part of the plurality of controllers.
