3. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the destination mobile device is connected to the source mobile device prior to receiving the first user data objects, the destination and source mobile devices being connected via a Wi-Fi peer-to-peer connection, via a physical wired connection, or via a direct connection.

5

5. The method as recited in claim 4, wherein second user data objects of the source mobile device are synchronized with the cloud storage, and wherein the second user data objects are not received by the destination mobile device from the source mobile device, the method further comprising obtaining, by the destination mobile device, the second user data objects from the cloud storage after establishing the connection to the cloud storage.

6

6. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the first user data objects correspond to the current state of the source mobile device at a time when the input to configure the destination mobile device is received.

7

7. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the first user data objects are compressed when received by the destination mobile device, the method further comprising: decompressing the first user data objects on the destination mobile device prior to storage to the second storage locations on the destination mobile device.

9

9. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein the first user data objects comprise two or more objects selected from a group comprising: settings, preferences, configurations, photos, music, videos, messages, applications, and user data, and wherein the manifest comprises a total number of the first user data objects.

12

12. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the destination mobile device is connected to the source mobile device prior to receiving the first user data objects, the destination and source mobile devices being connected via a Wi-Fi peer-to-peer connection, via a physical wired connection, or via a direct connection.

14

14. The system as recited in claim 13, wherein second user data objects of the source mobile device are synchronized with the cloud storage, wherein the second user data objects are not received by the destination mobile device from the source mobile device, and wherein the operations further comprise obtaining, by the destination mobile device, the second user data objects from the cloud storage after establishing the connection to the cloud storage.

15

15. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the first user data objects correspond to the current state of the source mobile device at a time when the input to configure the destination mobile device is received.

16

16. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the first user data objects are compressed when received by the destination mobile device, and wherein the operations further comprise decompressing the first user data objects on the destination mobile device prior to storage to the second storage locations on the destination mobile device.

18

18. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the first user data objects comprise two or more objects selected from a group comprising: settings, preferences, configurations, photos, music, videos, messages, applications, and user data, and wherein the manifest comprises a total number of the first user data objects.
