The system of claim 11, wherein the video characteristics of the character are facial characteristics of the character, and wherein the control circuitry is configured to determine whether the character appears in the at least one video frame of the respective media segment by using facial recognition techniques.
18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the instructions cause the control circuitry to transmit the recommendation for the media asset to the device in response to determining that a user profile associated with the device indicated a preference for the character.
