9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the default slot duration is configured based on a current subcarrier spacing used for New Radio (NR) communications above 52.6 GHz carrier frequency.

10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the higher layer signaling includes information to configure slot duration separately for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) transmissions.

11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the higher layer signaling includes information to configure slot duration for transmission of Message 2, Message 3, or Message 4 of a random access channel (RACH) procedure.
