Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including a plurality of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states; receiving, from the base station, first information, via a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE), activating at least one TCI state among the plurality of TCI states; when the first information activates only one TCI state, applying the only one TCI state activated by the first information; and when a tci-PresentinDCI is configured and the first information does not activate only one TCI state, receiving downlink control information (DCI) including second information on a TCI state and applying the TCI state which is indicated by the second information in the DCI.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the tci-PresentInDCI indicates that the TCI state is indicated via the DCI and is configured by the RRC message.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein, when the first information activates the only one TCI state, the only one TCI state to apply is determined based on the first information regardless of whether the tci-PresentInDCI is configured or not.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein the only one TCI state activated by the first information or the TCI state indicated by the second information is a joint TCI state, and wherein the joint TCI state is applied for a downlink channel and an uplink channel.
5. A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising: a transceiver configured to: receive, from a base station via the transceiver, a radio resource control (RRC) message including a plurality of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states, and receive, from the base station via the transceiver, first information, via a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE), activating at least one TCI state among the plurality of TCI states; and a processor operably coupled to the transceiver, the processor configured to: when the first information activates only one TCI state, apply the only one TCI state activated by the first information, and when a tci-PresentinDCI is configured and the first information does not activate only one TCI state, receive, from the base station via the transceiver, downlink control information (DCI) including second information on a TCI state and apply the TCI state which is indicated by the second information in the DCI.
6. The terminal of claim 5, wherein the tci-PresentInDCI indicates that the TCI state is indicated via the DCI and is configured by the RRC message.
7. The terminal of claim 5, wherein, when the first information activates the only one TCI state, the only one TCI state to apply is determined based on the first information regardless of whether the tci-PresentInDCI is configured or not.
8. The terminal of claim 5, wherein the only one TCI state activated by the first information or the TCI state indicated by the second information is a joint TCI state, and wherein the joint TCI state is applied for a downlink channel and an uplink channel.
9. A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising: a processor; and a transceiver operably coupled to the processor, the transceiver configured to: transmit, to a terminal via the transceiver, a radio resource control (RRC) message including a plurality of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states, transmit, to the terminal via the transceiver, first information, via a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE), activating at least one TCI state among the plurality of TCI states, when a tci-PresentinDCI is configured and the first information does not activate only one TCI state, transmit, to the terminal via the transceiver, downlink control information (DCI) including second information on a TCI state, and transmit a downlink channel or receive an uplink channel based on a TCI state to apply, wherein when the first information activates only one TCI state, the TCI state to apply is determined based on the first information in the MAC-CE, and wherein when the tci-PresentinDCI is configured and the first information does not activate only one TCI state, the TCI state to apply is determined based on the second information in the DCI.
10. The base station of claim 9, wherein the tci-PresentInDCI indicates that the TCI state is indicated via the DCI and is configured by the RRC message.
11. The base station of claim 9, wherein, when the first information activates the only one TCI state, the TCI state to apply is determined based on the first information regardless of whether the tci-PresentInDCI is configured or not.
12. The base station of claim 9, wherein the only one TCI state activated by the first information or the TCI state indicated by the second information is a joint TCI state, and wherein the joint TCI state is applied for the downlink channel and the uplink channel.
