Animation Packager for an On-Line Book

1. A method of creating an on-line book which illustrates at least one animated sequence, comprising: arranging at least two graphical images, via a user interface, in a sequence such that when displayed in such sequence the at least two graphical images create an animated display; designating a duration of display time, via the user interface, for each of the at least two graphical images; and automatically modifying an on-line book to include instructions for the sequential display of the arranged at least two graphical images for times equal to the designated display times.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the instructions identify a method for removing the bitmap after display.

3. A system for playing an animated sequence, the system comprising: at least two graphical images arranged in a sequence; and a module displaying a user interface, the module receiving user instructions via the user interface regarding the sequential display of the arranged at least two graphical images for designated times, wherein the module modifies an on-line book to include the at least two graphical images.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the instructions identify a method for removing the bitmap after display.

5. The system of claim 3 , further comprising: at least one compilation control file that is compiled to create the on-line book; and an update module which modifies the at least one compilation control file to include a reference to the at least two graphical images so that when generated, the at least one compilation control file creates the on-line book configured to display an animated sequence.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the instructions identify a method for removing the bitmap after display.

7. A method of inserting at least two graphical images into an on-line book, comprising: automatically ordering, in response to a user request, at least two graphical images in a sequence; and automatically modifying, in response to a user request, an on-line book to include instructions for the sequential display of the ordered at least two graphical images for times equal to designated display times.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the instructions identify a method for removing the bitmap after display.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the images are copied from a remote location over a network.

10. A method of inserting at least one animated display into an on-line book, comprising: ordering a list of images, wherein the ordered list of images when viewed successively provides one or more animated displays; and automatically modifying, in response to a user request, an on-line book to include instructions for the sequential display of the ordered at least two graphical images for times equal to designated display times.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein ordering the list of images comprises successively reading from a file the filename of the images.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein ordering the list of images comprises requesting a user to enter and arrange at least two graphical images.

13. The method of claim 10 , wherein inserting the instructions in a scripting file further includes inserting a time element relating to each of the images.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein ordering the list further includes associating a display time with each of the images.

15. The method of claim 10 , further comprising copying the images into a directory for compiling.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the images are copied from a remote location.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the images are copied over a computer network.

18. A system for inserting at least one animated display into an on-line book, comprising: means for ordering a list of images, wherein the ordered list of images when viewed successively provides one or more animated displays; and means for automatically modifying, in response to a user request, an on-line book to include instructions for the sequential display of the ordered at least two graphical images for times equal to designated display times.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein ordering the list of images comprises the act of successively reading from a file the filename of the images.
