A method for coding a coefficient of an uncoded frequency component included in a target block to be coded, the method comprising: selecting a code table in accordance with information that represents a total number of uncoded frequency components included in the target block to be coded, wherein the uncoded frequency components are frequency components which have not been coded; and coding the coefficient of the uncoded frequency component included in the target block to be coded by using the selected code table.
