Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A video display device capable of receiving a digital video signal comprising a gradation circuit having a noise detector for detecting noise in lower bits of said digital video signal, wherein said gradation circuit executes both of pseudo intermediate gradation processes of an error diffusion method and a dithering method, and when said detector detects noise, a signal processed by said pseudo intermediate gradation process of said error diffusion method but not processed by said pseudo intermediate gradation process of said dithering method is selected, whereas when said detector detects no noise, a signal processed by said pseudo intermediate gradation process of said dithering method but not processed by pseudo intermediate gradation process of said error diffusion method is selected.
2. A video display device capable of receiving a digital video signal comprising a gradation circuit having a noise detector for detecting noise in lower bits of said digital video signal, wherein said gradation circuit selects a signal processed by a pseudo intermediate gradation process of an error diffusion method but not processed by a pseudo intermediate gradation of a dithering method when said detector detects noise.
3. A video display device capable of receiving a digital video signal converted from an analog input video signal and a digital input video signal, said display device comprising a gradation circuit, wherein said gradation circuit selects a signal processed by a pseudo intermediate gradation process of an error diffusion method but not processed by a pseudo intermediate gradation process of a dithering method when said digital video signal converted from an analog input video signal is input.
