Information Processing Apparatus, Print Data Forming Method, Print Control Program, and Memory Medium

1. An information processing apparatus, as a host computer, for generating print data to be print-processed by a printer using a printer driver, comprising: designation receiving means for receiving designation of a duplex printing via a user interface of the printer driver; discriminating means for discriminating the number of pages of a recoding paper in the case where data to be printed has been arranged on the recording paper; generating means for generating, in the case where the designation of the duplex printing is received by said designation receiving means and it is determined by said discriminating means that the number of pages of said recording paper on which the data to be printed has been arranged is equal to an odd number, print data which can be interpreted by the printer by using (a) the data to be printed and (b) a predetermined command such that a blank page of a last page is not charged in the printer; and sending means for sending the print data generated by said generating means to the printer, wherein said generating means generates the print data by using the data to be printed and a predetermined command such that the blank page is counted as a physical page but not counted as a page for charge.

2. An apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising spooling means for temporarily storing a print command which is output by an application and for counting the number of pages.

A method for an information processing apparatus, as a host computer, of generating print data to be print-processed by a printer using a printer driver, comprising: a designation receiving step of receiving designation of a duplex printing via a user interface of the printer driver; a discriminating step of discriminating the number of pages of a recoding paper in the case where data to be printed has been arranged on the recording paper; a generating step of generating, in the case where the designation of the duplex printing is received in said designation receiving step and it is determined in said discriminating step that the number of pages of said recording paper on which the data to be printed has been arranged is equal to an odd number, print data which can be interpreted by the printer by using (a) the data to be printed and (b) a predetermined command such that a blank page of a last page is not charged in the printer; and a sending step of sending the print data generated in said generating step to the printer, wherein said generating step generates the print data by using the data to be printed and a predetermined command such that the blank page is counted as a physical page but not counted as a page for charge.

4. A method according to claim 3 , further comprising a spooling step of temporarily storing a print command which is output by an application and for counting the number of pages.

5. A computer-readable medium storing a computer program for an information processing apparatus, as a host computer, for generating print data to be print-processed by a printer using a printer driver, the program comprising: a designation receiving step of receiving designation of a duplex printing via a user interface of the printer driver; a discriminating step of discriminating the number of pages of a recoding paper in the case where data to be printed has been arranged on the recording paper; a generating step of generating, in the case where the designation of the duplex printing is received in said designation receiving step and it is determined in said discriminating step that the number of pages of said recording paper on which the data to be printed has been arranged is equal to an odd number, print data which can be interpreted by the printer by using (a) the data to be printed and (b) a predetermined command such that a blank page of a last page is not charged in the printer; and a sending step of sending the print data generated in said generating step to the printer, wherein said generating step generates the print data by using the data to be printed and a predetermined command such that the blank page is counted as a physical page but not counted as a page for charge.

6. A program according to claim 5 , further comprising a spooling step of temporarily storing a print command which is output by an application and for counting the number of pages.
