Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method for managing an artist media file comprising: playing an artist media file on a media player device, the artist media file including a control parameter configured to modify one or more functions available while playing the artist media file; performing a selected action while playing the artist media file, wherein the selected action is modified by the control parameter and represents a feedback associated with the artist media file; collecting metadata associated with the selected action; updating a profile and a listening preference based upon the metadata; identifying another artist media file, wherein the another artist media file is identified based upon the listening preference associated with the profile, after the listening preference is updated, and wherein the another artist media file is stored on a source; determining, after identifying the another artist media file, an access privilege associated with the another artist media file and the media player device, wherein the access privilege is based upon a first access parameter associated with the profile, after the profile is updated, a second access parameter associated with the another artist media file, and a third access parameter associated with the media player device; retrieving the another artist media file from the source; and sending the another artist media file to the media player device according to the access privilege and a parameter determined by a provider of the another artist media file.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the another artist media file is further identified according to an identification scheme determined by the provider.
3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the identification scheme is a promotion.
4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the promotion is determined by an artist and a fan list, the fan list being modified based on the selected action.
5. The method of claim 2 , wherein the identification scheme is based on the another artist media file being forwarded from another device.
6. The method of claim 2 , wherein the identification scheme is a StreamJ play list.
7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising configuring the StreamJ play list, the configuring being determined by a StreamJ, the StreamJ play list comprising one or more artist media files and one or more annotations based on a preference of the StreamJ.
8. The method of claim 2 , wherein the identification scheme is based on randomization.
9. The method of claim 2 , wherein the identification scheme is based on social filtering.
10. The method of claim 2 , wherein the identification scheme is based on self-queuing.
11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the self-queuing comprises selecting one or more artist media files based on a preference associated with another profile.
12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the artist media file is identified according to another action, the another action being performed on another device.
13. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: providing a first artist media file associated with a first provider and a second artist media file associated with a second provider, said second artist media file being an annotation of the first artist media file; and sending the first artist media file and second artist media file to the media player device.
14. The method of claim 1 , further comprising gathering feedback from the media player device, the feedback being stored for retrieval by the provider.
15. The method of claim 1 , further comprising associating the another artist media file with a boxcar, the boxcar being associated with a range, the range comprising one or more boxcar being sent to the media player device.
16. The method of claim 15 , further comprising stopping sending the range when an amount of boxcars associated with the range has been sent.
17. The method of claim 1 , wherein the parameter comprises a time expiration, the time expiration being associated with the another artist media file.
18. The method of claim 1 , wherein the selected action comprises at least one of a accept, reject, skip, or forward.
19. An artist media file management system residing on a computer, comprising: a memory configured to store an artist media file; and a logic module configured to: play an artist media file on a media player device, the artist media file including a control parameter configured to modify one or more functions available while playing the artist media file; perform a selected action while playing the artist media file, wherein the selected action is modified by the control parameter and represents a feedback associated with the artist media file; collect metadata associated with the selected action; update a profile and a listening preference based upon the metadata; identify another artist media file, wherein the another artist media file is identified based upon the listening preference associated with the profile, after the listening preference is updated, and wherein the another artist media file is stored on a source; determine, after identifying the another artist media file, an access privilege associated with the another artist media file and the media player device, wherein the access privilege is based upon a first access parameter associated with the profile, after the profile is updated, a second access parameter associated with the another artist media file, and a third access parameter associated with the media player device; retrieve the another artist media file from the source; and send the another artist media file to the media player device according to the access privilege and a parameter determined by a provider of the another artist media file.
20. A computer program product for artist file management, the computer program product being embodied in a computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for: playing an artist media file on a media player device, the artist media file including a control parameter configured to modify one or more functions available while playing the artist media file; performing a selected action while playing the artist media file, wherein the selected action is modified by the control parameter and represents a feedback associated with the artist media file; collecting metadata associated with the selected action; updating a profile and a listening preference based upon the metadata; identifying another artist media file, wherein the another artist media file is identified based upon the listening preference associated with the profile, after the listening preference is updated, and wherein the another artist media file is stored on a source; determining, after identifying the another artist media file, an access privilege associated with the another artist media file and the media player device, wherein the access privilege is based upon a first access parameter associated with the profile, after the profile is updated, a second access parameter associated with the another artist media file, and a third access parameter associated with the media player device; retrieving the another artist media file from the source; and sending the another artist media file to the media player device according to the access privilege and a parameter determined by a provider of the another artist media file.
