Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method for a user equipment (UE) to perform a random access in a mobile communication system, the method comprising: transmitting a specific random access preamble; receiving a medium access control packet data unit (MAC PDU) comprising one or more random access responses and a MAC header comprising one or more header parts, each of the header parts corresponding to each of the random access responses; and processing information on a specific random access response, when the specific random access response comprises an identifier corresponding to the transmitted specific random access preamble, wherein all of the header parts is in a first part of the MAC PDU and all of the random access responses is in a second part of the MAC PDU subsequent to the first part.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the MAC PDU is received via a downlink common channel.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the specific random access response comprises uplink resource information allocated to the UE, a temporary identifier of the UE and a timing synchronization related variable.
4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising: transmitting an uplink signal using the uplink resource information.
5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising: receiving a message indicating uplink resource information newly allocated to the UE; and retransmitting the uplink signal using the newly allocated uplink resource information.
6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the message comprising the newly allocated uplink resource information corresponds to a negative acknowledgement (NACK).
7. A method for a network to control a random access of a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system, the method comprising: receiving a specific random access preamble from the UE; and transmitting a medium access control packet data unit (MAC PDU) comprising one or more random access responses and a MAC header comprising one or more header parts, each of the header parts corresponding to each of the random access responses, wherein all of the header parts is in a first part of the MAC PDU and all of the random access responses is in a second part of the MAC PDU subsequent to the first part, and wherein when the MAC PDU comprises a specific random access response corresponding to the specific random access preamble, the specific random access response comprises an identifier corresponding to the specific random access preamble.
8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the MAC PDU is transmitted via a downlink common channel.
9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the specific random access response comprises uplink resource information allocated to the UE, a temporary identifier of the UE and a timing synchronization related variable.
10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising: receiving an uplink signal associated with the uplink resource information.
11. The method of claim 10 , further comprising: transmitting a message indicating an uplink resource information newly allocated to the UE; and receiving a retransmitted uplink signal associated with the newly allocated uplink resource information.
12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the message comprising the newly allocated uplink resource information corresponds to a negative acknowledgement (NACK).
