2

2. The system of claim 1 , further including a customer service request routine, operable to process a customer service request for request on a specific product from a customer that has been verified by the verification routine.

3

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the customer service request routine is further operable to provide the customer with any customer service and installation advice stored with respect to a product type which corresponds to the specific product for which the request was made.

4

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein there is more than one type of return criteria provided by more than one retailer or manufacturer, and the more than one type of return criteria is associated with a product type, wherein the return criteria includes a total amount of time during which a product of a type with which the criteria is associated can be returned.

5

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the more than one type of return criteria is further associated with at least one of a retailer identifier and a manufacturer identifier stored in the database, and at least one of the retailer access routine and the manufacturer access routine allows the corresponding accessing retailer or manufacturer to update the return criteria respectively associated with that retailer or manufacturer.

6

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the return criteria includes a list of the original parts and components included with the product of at least one product type.

7

7. A product registration and return verification system, comprising: a database, storing at least return criteria for types of products and individual product registration information, wherein at least one of the individual products is a specific product of a type of one of the stored types of products; at least one processor operable to execute one or more routines tangibly stored on at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium; at least one update routine, operable to add information about an individual product, the information being sent to the database from a point of sale location; at least one retailer access routine, operable to provide a retailer with access to the database, wherein one of the at least one retailer access routines is operable to provide the retailer with a list of individually registered products sold by that retailer; at least one manufacturer access routine, operable to provide a manufacturer with access to the database, wherein one of the at least one manufacturer access routines is operable to store at least one of customer service and customer installation advice associated with a type of product stored in the database; at least one customer access routine, operable to provide a customer with access to the database, wherein one of the at least one access routines is operable to provide the customer with any customer service and customer installation advice stored with respect to the type of product to which the individual product purchased by the customer belongs; at least one verification routine, operable to verify that a customer attempting to log onto the database has purchased a product for which information is sought; and at least one return processing routine, operable to receive information from a retailer or manufacturer corresponding to a specific product, to search the database for the specific product corresponding to the received material, and to return at least a portion of the information stored in the database and associated with the specific product to the retailer or manufacturer sending the received information.

8

8. A method of registering and maintaining records about purchased products via an electronic registration system, using at least one processor and a database storing at least return criteria for types of products and associating the stored criteria with at least one of the types of products and individual product registration information, wherein at least one of the individual products is a specific product of a type of one of the stored types of products, accessible by manufacturers, retailers and customers, the method comprising: processing, using at least one said processor, updates sent from retailers to add information about an individual product, the information being sent to the database from a point of sale location; processing, using at least one said processor, retailer accesses to provide the retailer with a list of individually registered products sold by that retailer; processing, using at least one said processor, manufacturer accesses to store at least one of customer service and customer installation advice associated with a type of product stored in the database; processing, using at least one said processor, customer accesses to provide the customer with any customer service and customer installation advice stored with respect to the type of product to which the individual product purchased by the customer belongs; verifying, using at least one said processor, that a customer attempting to log onto the database has purchased a product for which information is sought; and processing, using at least one said processor, returns, including receiving information from a retailer or manufacturer corresponding to a specific product, searching the database for the specific product corresponding to the received material, and transmitting at least a portion of the information stored in the database and associated with the specific product to the retailer or manufacturer sending the received information.

9. The method of claim 8 , further including processing a customer service request for request on a specific product received from a customer that has been verified by the verifying.

10

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the processing of a customer service request includes providing the customer with any customer service and installation advice stored with respect to a product type which corresponds to the specific product for which the request was made.

11

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein there is more than one type of return criteria provided by more than one retailer or manufacturer, and the more than one type of return criteria is associated with a product type, wherein the return criteria includes a total amount of time during which a product of a type with which the criteria is associated can be returned.

12

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the more than one type of return criteria is further associated with at least one of a retailer identifier and a manufacturer identifier stored in the database, and at least one of the processing retailer accesses and the processing manufacturer accesses allows the corresponding accessing retailer or manufacturer to update the return criteria respectively associated with that retailer or manufacturer.

13

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the return criteria includes a list of the original parts and components included with a product of at least one product type, and wherein the processing returns further includes providing the list of the original parts and components if a product for which information is received has a list associated therewith.
