Providing Information Pertaining Usage of a Mobile Wireless Communications Device

1. A method comprising: determining whether usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in a region is to be provided to a communications device; and when it is determined that the usage information is to be provided, providing the usage information to the communications device based on a rate of recurrence in which the communications device is in the region.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the determining is responsive to an occurrence of an event; and the event comprises one of: a request for the usage information; or a determination that the communications device is entering into the region.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: determining that the communications device is entering into the region via at least one of: a global positioning system; an assisted global position system; or an identifier of a radio access network servicing the communications device.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communications device comprises a global positioning system receiver.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: determining whether usage of communications devices in the region differs from usage of communications devices in another region; and when it is determined that usage of communications devices in the region does not differ from usage of communications devices in the other region, performing one of: providing no usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region to the communications device; or providing an indication that the usage information has not changed; and when it is determined that usage of communications devices in the region differs from usage of communications devices in the other region, providing the usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region to the communications device.

The method of claim 1 , wherein it is determined whether the usage information is to be provided to the communications device further in accordance with at least one of: a preference of a subscriber associated with the communications device; an amount of time that has elapsed since information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region has been provided to the communications device; an amount of time that has elapses since information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region has changed; or an amount of time that has elapsed since information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region has changed.

7. A apparatus comprising: a processor; and memory coupled to the processor, the memory comprising executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising: determining whether usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in a region is to be provided to a communications device; and when it is determined that the usage information is to be provided, providing the usage information to the communications device based on a rate of recurrence in which the communications device is in the region.

8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein: the determining is responsive to an occurrence of an event; and the event comprises one of: a request for the usage information; or a determination that the mobile wireless communications device is entering into the region.

9. The apparatus of claim 7 , the operations further comprising: determining that the mobile wireless communications device is entering into the region via at least one of: a global positioning system; an assisted global position system; or an identifier of a radio access network servicing the communications device.

10. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the communications device comprises a global positioning system receiver.

11. The apparatus of claim 7 , the operations further comprising: determining whether usage of communications devices in the region differs from usage of communications devices in another region; and when it is determined that usage of communications devices in the region does not differ from usage of communications devices in the other region, performing one of: providing no usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region to the communications device; or providing an indication that the usage information has not changed; and when it is determined that usage of communications devices in the region differs from usage of communications devices in the other region, providing the usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region to the communications device.

12. A computer-readable storage medium that is not a propagating signal, the computer-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising: determining whether usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in a region is to be provided to a communications device; and when it is determined that the usage information is to be provided, providing the usage information to the communications device based on a rate of recurrence in which the communications device is in the region.

13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein: the determining is responsive to an occurrence of an event; and the event comprises one of: a request for the usage information; or a determination that the communications device is entering into the region.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , the operations further comprising: determining that the communications device is entering into the region via at least one of: a global positioning system; an assisted global position system; or an identifier of a radio access network servicing the communications device.

15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the communications device comprises a global positioning system receiver.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12 , the operations further comprising: determining whether usage of communications devices in the region differs from usage of communications devices in another region; and when it is determined that usage of communications devices in the region does not differ from usage of communications devices in the other region, performing one of: providing no usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region to the communications device; or providing an indication that the usage information has not changed; and when it is determined that usage of communications devices in the region differs from usage of communications devices in the other region, providing the usage information pertaining to usage of communications devices in the region to the communications device.
