Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method, comprising: providing an interface that includes an interactive element through which users can provide feedback for an instance of content, wherein the interface is used to manage a plurality of instances of content inclusive of the instance of content; responsive to a first user interacting with the interactive element, registering an indication of user feedback from the first user for the instance of content; upon determining that the indication of user feedback from the first user has been registered for the instance of content, disabling the interactive element within the interface for the first user; monitoring the instance of content to detect changes to the instance of content; upon detecting a change to the instance of content since the first user provided the user feedback for the content, automatically and without user interaction, re-enabling the interactive element for the first user such that the first user can again interact with the interactive element; and generating a visual representation of user feedback showing at least an indication of the plurality of intances of content and, for each instance of content, a respective count of positive feedback and a respective count of negative feedback received for the respective instance of content.
2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: responsive to the first user interacting with the interactive element, initiating a timer configured to expire after a predetermined period of time; and upon expiration of the timer, enabling the interactive element for the first user such that the first user can again interact with the interactive element.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the instance of content is user-generated content created by a second user, and wherein the detected changes to the instance of content are made by the second user.
4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the interface is configured to only allow users to submit either positive or negative feedback for the instance of content, and further comprising: presenting an indication of user feedback for multiple iterations of the instance of content.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user feedback is positive feedback, and wherein the interface is configured to only allow users to submit positive feedback for the instance of content.
6. The method of claim 5 , wherein registering the indication of user feedback from the first user for the instance of content further comprises: incrementing a counter associated with the instance of content, wherein the counter represents a total number of indications of user feedback received for the instance of content; and outputting the incremented counter for display in the interface.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the interface is provided at a first site, and the method further comprising: providing, at the first site, a second interface through which an author of the instance of content can edit the instance of content, wherein detecting the change to the instance of content further comprises detecting that one or more edits have been made to the instance of content using the provided second interface.
8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the interface is provided at a first site, and wherein detecting the change to the instance of content further comprises detecting that a new version of the instance of content has been uploaded to the first site.
9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving an enable request from an author of the instance of content; and in response to the enable request, re-enabling the interface element for any users for whom the interactive element was disabled.
10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: analyzing user feedback for the user that authored the instance of content by outputting a second interface for display and depicting how each instance of content has been positively received by users of the interface on the second interface.
11. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the visual representation of user feedback further comprising: generating an indication of trending information for two or more versions of the instance of content, with respect to at least one of (i) positive feedback and (ii) negative feedback.
12. A system, comprising: a processor; and a memory containing a program that, when executed by the processor, performs an operation comprising: providing an interface that includes an interactive element through which users can provide feedback for an instance of content, wherein the interface is used to manage a plurality of instances of content inclusive of the instance of content; responsive to a first user interacting with the interactive element, registering an indication of user feedback from the first user for the instance of content; upon determining that the indication of user feedback from the first user has been registered for the instance of content, disabling the interactive element within the interface for the first user; monitoring the instance of content to detect changes to the instance of content; upon detecting a change to the instance of content since the first user provided the user feedback for the content, automatically and without user interaction, re-enabling the interactive element for the first user such that the first user can again interact with the interactive element; and generating a visual representation of user feedback showing at least an indication of the plurality of intances of content and, for each instance of content, a respective count of positive feedback and a respective count of negative feedback received for the respective instance of content.
13. The system of claim 12 , the operation further comprising: responsive to the first user interacting with the interactive element, initiating a timer configured to expire after a predetermined period of time; and upon expiration of the timer, enabling the interactive element for the first user such that the first user can again interact with the interactive element.
14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the instance of content is user-generated content created by a second user, and wherein the detected changes to the instance of content are made by the second user.
15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the interface is configured to only allow users to submit either positive or negative feedback for the instance of content, and the operation further comprising: presenting an indication of user feedback for multiple iterations of the instance of content.
16. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user feedback is positive feedback, and wherein the interface is configured to only allow users to submit positive feedback for the instance of content.
17. The system of claim 16 , wherein registering the indication of user feedback from the first user for the instance of content further comprises: incrementing a counter associated with the instance of content, wherein the counter represents a total number of indications of user feedback received for the instance of content; and outputting the incremented counter for display in the interface.
18. A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing a program that, when executed, performs an operation comprising: providing an interface that includes an interactive element through which users can provide feedback for an instance of content, wherein the interface is used to manage a plurality of instances of content inclusive of the instance of content; responsive to a first user interacting with the interactive element, registering an indication of user feedback from the first user for the instance of content; upon determining that the indication of user feedback from the first user has been registered for the instance of content, disabling the interactive element within the interface for the first user; monitoring the instance of content to detect changes to the instance of content; upon detecting a change to the instance of content since the first user provided the user feedback for the content, automatically and without user interaction, re-enabling the interactive element for the first user such that the first user can again interact with the interactive element; and generating a visual representation of user feedback showing at least an indication of the plurality of intances of content and, for each instance of content, a respective count of positive feedback and a respective count of negative feedback received for the respective instance of content.
19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , the operation further comprising: responsive to the first user interacting with the interactive element, initiating a timer configured to expire after a predetermined period of time; and upon expiration of the timer, enabling the interactive element for the first user such that the first user can again interact with the interactive element.
20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , the operation further comprising: responsive to the first user interacting with the interactive element, initiating a timer configured to expire at a predetermined moment in time; and upon expiration of the timer, enabling the interactive element for the first user such that the first user can again interact with the interactive element.
21. A method, comprising: providing an interface that includes an interactive element through which users can provide feedback for an instance of user-generated content created by a first user within a virtual world, wherein the interface is used to manage a plurality of instances of user-generated content inclusive of the instance of user-generated content; responsive to a second user interacting with the interactive element, registering an indication of user feedback from the second user for the instance of content; upon determining that the indication of user feedback from the first user has been registered for the instance of content: disabling the interactive element within the interface for the second user; and initiating a timer associated with the disabled interactive element; upon expiration of the timer, re-enabling the interactive element for the second user such that the second user can again interact with the interactive element; and generating a visual representation of user feedback showing at least an indication of the plurality of intances of user-generated content and, for each instance of user-generated content, a respective count of positive feedback and a respective count of negative feedback received for the respective instance of user-generated content.
