Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.

1

1. An input device comprising: an input portion configured to generate signals to be processed by a computing device using a plurality of keys; and a connection portion attached to the input portion using a flexible hinge, the connection portion configured to be physically coupled to the computing device using: a magnetic coupling device; and a protrusion configured to be received within a cavity formed as part of a channel along an axis and mechanically bind along at least one other axis thereby restricting removal of the protrusion from the cavity.

2

2. An input device as described in claim 1 , wherein the flexible hinge comprises a mid-spine configured to supply mechanical stiffness to a location of the flexible hinge.

3

3. An input devices as described in claim 1 , wherein the protrusion is configured to be removed from the cavity along the axis as defined by a height of the protrusion from the projection and to resist movement along the at least one other axis.

4

4. An input device as described in claim 1 , wherein the protrusion includes a side that is configured to contact the cavity to support transmission of power between the input device and the computing device.

5

5. An input device as described in claim 1 , wherein the connection portion includes a plurality of said protrusions formed as posts.

6

6. An input device as described in claim 1 , wherein the magnetic coupling device is configured to form a physical coupling to a corresponding magnetic coupling device of the computing device.

7

7. An input device as described in claim 1 , wherein the connection portion further includes a plurality of communication contacts that are configured to contact contacts of the computing device to provide the communicative coupling.

8

8. An input device as described in claim 1 , wherein the protrusion is configured to support transmission of power from the input device to the computing device.

9

9. An input device as described in claim 1 , wherein the protrusion is configured to support the communicative coupling between the input device and the computing device.

10

10. An apparatus comprising: a housing; a kickstand attached to the housing as supporting rotational movement of the kickstand in relation to the housing; and an input device having an input portion configured to generate signals to be processed by a computing device using a plurality of keys and a connection portion attached to the input portion using a flexible hinge, the connection portion configured to be physically coupled to the housing using a magnetic coupling device.

11

11. An apparatus as described in claim 10 , wherein the connection portion further comprises a protrusion configured to be received within a cavity of the housing to restrict removal of the connection portion via mechanical binding caused by attempted off-axis removal.

12

12. An apparatus as described in claim 10 , wherein the kickstand is configured to lie flat against a rear surface of the housing and to extend away from the housing to support a typing arrangement.
