1

1. A system for processing a stream of tuples, comprising: one or more compute nodes, each compute node having one or more computer processors and a memory; a processing element operating on the one or more computer processors, the processing element to receive and process two or more tuples, the processing element having a windowing operator performing a tumbling windowing operation to: determine a first value when an eviction condition for a tumbling windowing is met; determine from one or more tuples received within the tumbling windowing whether a condition to end the tumbling windowing operation before the eviction condition for the tumbling window is met; and end the tumbling windowing operation before the eviction condition for the tumbling window is met when the condition to end the windowing operation-before the eviction condition for the tumbling window is met.

2

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the condition to end the tumbling windowing operation before the eviction condition for the tumbling window is met is determined two or more times within the tumbling windowing operation.

3

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the condition to end the tumbling windowing operation before the eviction condition for the tumbling window is met is dynamically determined within the tumbling windowing operation.

4

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the tumbling windowing operation further includes determining a first sum and the condition to end the tumbling windowing operation before the eviction condition for the tumbling window is met includes evaluating a second sum.

5

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the tumbling windowing operation further includes determining a first central tendency metric and the condition to end the tumbling windowing operation before the eviction condition for the tumbling window is met includes evaluating a second central tendency metric.

6

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the evaluating of the second central tendency metric includes determining a standard deviation.

7

7. The system of claim 5 , wherein the evaluating of the second central tendency metric includes determining a confidence interval for a t-distribution.
