Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A system for outputting visual data from a mobile device application on a mobile computing device to a vehicle display, the system comprising: a wireless transceiver for communicating signals between a mobile computing device and a vehicle computing system having a graphical display; wherein the vehicle computing system is configured to: i. receive a caller identification string from the mobile computing device identifying a mobile device application configured to operate with the vehicle computing system; ii. receive a wireless signal from the mobile computing device representative of a visual indication to be displayed on the vehicle display; iii. determine a location to display the visual indication on the display; and iv. output the visual indication on the vehicle display at the determined location.
2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the visual indication includes turn by turn information related to a navigation application.
3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the visual indication includes text data related to turn by turn information related to a navigation application.
4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the visual indication includes graphical data related to turn by turn information related to a navigation application.
5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the caller identification string includes a calling line identification presentation.
6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the caller identification string contains an alpha-numeric number that is insufficient for making an operable phone-call to a phone line.
7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle computing system is further configured to receive an audio video remote control profile message with a header indicating the mobile device is requesting to output the visual indication.
8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the wireless signal from the mobile computing device includes an attention command.
9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the attention command is a list current call command.
10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the wireless signal is received from the mobile computing device utilizing an enhanced synchronous connection-oriented link.
11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the wireless signal is received from the mobile computing device utilizing a synchronous connection-oriented link.
12. A mobile device utilizing a mobile application that outputs visual data to a vehicle computer system and to be output on a vehicle display, the device comprising: a wireless transceiver for communicating signals from the mobile device to the vehicle computing system for processing by the vehicle computing system; and a processor configured to: i. send a caller identification string to the vehicle computer system using the wireless transceiver, the caller identification identifying the mobile application; ii. receive a request from the vehicle computer system to send the visual data to the vehicle computer system; iii. send a wireless signal to the vehicle computing device representative of a visual indication to be displayed in the vehicle.
13. The device of claim 12 , wherein the visual indication contains text data of guidance instructions related to the mobile application.
14. The device of claim 12 , wherein the mobile application is a navigation application.
15. The device of claim 12 , wherein the caller identification string is a calling line identification presentation.
16. The device of claim 12 , wherein the caller identification string is sent to the vehicle computer system utilizing a synchronous connection-oriented link.
17. The device of claim 12 , wherein the caller identification string is sent to the vehicle computer system utilizing an enhanced synchronous connection-oriented link.
18. The device of claim 12 , wherein the processor is further configured to send a wireless signal to the vehicle computing device representative of an audible statement that corresponds to the visual indication to be displayed in the vehicle.
19. A vehicle computing system (VCS) comprising: a wireless transceiver for communication between a mobile device (MD) and the VCS; and a processor configured to: i. receive a caller identification string from the MD identifying an application is operating on the MD; ii. receive vehicle output data from the identified application instructing output to a vehicle display; iii. output the received data to the vehicle display and in accordance to the instructions.
20. The vehicle computing system of claim 19 , wherein the caller identification string is sent to the vehicle computer system utilizing an enhanced synchronous connection-oriented link.
