1

1. A method performed by a slave device for traffic control, comprising: accessing an external network through a master device via a short-range wireless communication channel between the master device and the slave device; receiving a notification message from the master device through the short-range wireless communication channel, wherein the notification message includes information about a type of an intermediate network used by the master device to connect to the external network; parsing the notification message to get the information about the type of the intermediate network used by the master device to connect to the external network; retrieving a policy of network traffic control corresponding to the type of the intermediate network used by the master device; and controlling network traffic between the slave device and the external network via the short-range wireless communication channel between the master device and the slave device based on the policy.

2

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the type of the intermediate network is a cellular network type; the policy indicates that a permission for accessing the external network of a application is to be disabled when the intermediate network is a cellular network, and wherein the step of controlling network traffic comprises disabling the permission for accessing the external network of the application.

3

3. The method according to claim 2 , wherein before the step of controlling network traffic, the method further comprises: identifying the application based on its application type or the application having a network traffic consumption rate exceeding a preset threshold.

4

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the type of the intermediate network is a cellular network type; the policy indicates that a saving consumption manner for running all applications on the slave device when the intermediate network is a cellular network, and wherein the step of controlling network traffic comprises running all applications on the slave device in the saving consumption manner.

5

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising: after the step of controlling network traffic, scanning for an access point in a wireless network; accessing the external network through the access point instead of through the master device.

6

6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the notification message is a beacon frame.

7

7. A wireless mobile user device, comprising: a short-range wireless communication transceiver; a memory storing computer-executable program code; and a processor executing the computer-executable program code to perform operations comprising: establishing a short-range wireless communication channel between the wireless mobile user device and a master device by using the short-range wireless communication transceiver; accessing an external network through a master device via the short-range wireless communication channel; receiving a notification message from the master device through the short-range wireless communication channel, wherein the notification message includes information about a type of an intermediate network used by the master device to connect to the external network; parsing the notification message to get the information about the type of the intermediate network used by the master device to connect to the external network; retrieving a policy of network traffic control corresponding to the type of the intermediate network used by the master device; and controlling network traffic between the slave device and the external network via the short-range wireless communication channel between the master device and the slave device based on the policy.

8

8. The wireless mobile user device according to claim 7 , wherein the type of the intermediate network is a cellular network type; the policy indicates that a permission for accessing the external network of a application is to be disabled when the intermediate network is a cellular network, and wherein the operation of controlling network traffic comprises disabling the permission for accessing the external network of the application.

9

9. The wireless mobile user device according to claim 7 , wherein before the operation of controlling network traffic, the operations further comprising: identifying the application based on its application type or the application having a network traffic consumption rate exceeding a preset threshold.

10

10. The wireless mobile user device according to claim 7 , wherein the type of the intermediate network is a cellular network type; the policy indicates that a saving consumption manner for running all applications on the slave device when the intermediate network is a cellular network, and wherein the operation of controlling network traffic comprises running all applications on the slave device in the saving consumption manner.

11

11. The wireless mobile user device according to claim 7 , further comprising: after the operation of controlling network traffic, scanning for an access point in a wireless network; accessing the external network through the access point instead of through the master device.

12

12. The wireless mobile user device according to claim 7 , wherein the notification message is a beacon frame.
