System and Method for Identifying a Location of Interest to Be Named by a User

1. A method for identifying a location to be named, the method comprising: determining user-specific location information for a mobile device, the user-specific location information including at least one of a number of times a mobile device user is present at or near a location and an amount of time the mobile device user is present at or near the location; identifying, based on the determined user-specific location information, the location as a location of interest; providing for presenting at the mobile device, based on the identifying the location as the location of interest, a user prompt for naming the location of interest; and receiving, from the mobile device, name information for naming the location.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein determining user-specific location information includes receiving an indication from the mobile device that the location is the location of interest.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein receiving name information includes receiving a selection of suggested name information.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein receiving name information includes receiving user-entered text information.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising providing for the mobile device to present information identifying at least one of the number of times the user is present at or near the location and the amount of time the user is present at or near the location.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising: determining an action taken by the user via the mobile communication device; and providing information identifying the action taken by the user for use in determining user-specific action information.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the location is identified as the location of interest based on the user-specific location information and the user-specific action information.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein determining user-specific location information for a mobile device includes transmitting the location of the user to a server.

9. A method for identifying a location to be named, the method comprising: providing for determining user-specific mobile device location information including at least one of a number of times a mobile device user is present at or near a location and an amount of time the mobile device user is present at or near the location; providing for identifying, based on the determined user-specific location information, the location as a location of interest; presenting, based on the identifying the location as the location of interest, a user prompt for naming the location of interest; and receiving, via the user prompt, name information for naming the location.

10. The method of claim 9 wherein providing for determining user-specific mobile device location information includes receiving an indication from a server that the location is the location of interest.

11. The method of claim 9 wherein providing for determining user-specific mobile device location information includes determining, by the device, that the location is the location of interest.

12. The method of claim 9 wherein receiving name information includes receiving a selection of suggested name information.

13. The method of claim 9 wherein receiving name information includes receiving user-entered text information.

14. The method of claim 9 further comprising presenting information identifying at least one of the number of times the user is present at or near the location and the amount of time the user is present at or near the location.

15. The method of claim 9 further comprising: determining an action taken by the user via the mobile communication device; and providing information identifying the action taken by the user for use in determining user-specific action information.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the location is identified as the location of interest based on the user-specific location information and the user-specific action information.

17. The method of claim 9 wherein providing the location of the user includes transmitting the location of the user to a server.

18. A server for identifying a location to be named, the server comprising: a processor, a memory, and a communication interface, and configured to: determine user-specific location information for a mobile device, the user-specific location information including at least one of a number of times a mobile device user is present at or near a location and an amount of time the mobile device user is present at or near the location; identify, based on the determined user-specific location information, the location as a location of interest; provide for presenting at the mobile device, based on the identifying the location as the location of interest, a user prompt for naming the location of interest; and receive, from the mobile device, name information for naming the location.

19. The server of claim 18 wherein the server is configured to receive an identification of the location as the location of interest from the mobile device.

20. The server of claim 18 wherein the server is configured to receive a selection of suggested name information from the mobile device.

21. The server of claim 18 wherein the server is configured to receive name information comprising user-entered text information from the mobile device.

22. The server of claim 18 wherein the server is configured to provide for presenting at the mobile device information identifying at least one of the number of times the user is present at or near the location and the amount of time the user is present at or near the location.

23. The server of claim 18 wherein the server is configured to determine an action taken by the user via the mobile communication device and to include information identifying the action taken by the user in determining user-specific action information.

24. The server of claim 23 wherein the server is configured to identify the location of interest based on the user-specific location information and the user-specific action information.

25. A mobile communication device for identifying a location to be named, the mobile communication device comprising: a processor, a memory, a position locator, a communication interface, and a user interface, and configured to: provide location information for determining user-specific mobile device location information including at least one of a number of times a mobile device user is present at or near a location and an amount of time the mobile device user is present at or near the location; provide for identifying, based on the determined user-specific location information, the location as a location of interest; present, based on the identifying the location as the location of interest, a user prompt via the user interface for naming the location of interest; and receive, via the user interface, name information for naming the location.

26. The mobile communication device of claim 25 wherein the mobile communication device is configured to receive an identification of the location as the location of interest from a server.

27. The mobile communication device of claim 25 wherein the mobile communication device is configured to determine that the location is the location of interest.

28. The mobile communication device of claim 25 wherein the mobile communication device is configured to receive a selection of suggested name information.

29. The mobile communication device of claim 25 wherein the mobile communication device is configured to receive name information comprising user-entered text information.

30. The mobile communication device of claim 25 wherein the mobile communication device is configured to present information identifying at least one of the number of times the user is present at or near the location and the amount of time the user is present at or near the location.

31. The mobile communication device of claim 25 the mobile communication device is configured to determine an action taken by the user via the mobile communication device and to provide information identifying the action taken by the user for use in determining user-specific action information.

32. The mobile communication device of claim 31 , wherein the mobile communication device is configured to identify the location of interest based on the user-specific location information and the user-specific action information.

33. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing a computer program, executable by a machine, for identifying a location to be named, the computer program comprising executable instructions for: determining user-specific location information for a mobile device, the user-specific location information including at least one of a number of times a mobile device user is present at or near a location and an amount of time the mobile device user is present at or near the location; identifying, based on the determined user-specific location information, the location as a location of interest; providing for presenting at the mobile device, based on the identifying the location as the location of interest, a user prompt for naming the location of interest; and receiving, from the mobile device, name information for naming the location.

34. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing a computer program, executable by a machine, for identifying a location to be named, the computer program comprising executable instructions for: providing for determining user-specific mobile device location information including at least one of a number of times a mobile device user is present at or near a location and an amount of time the mobile device user is present at or near the location; providing for identifying, based on the determined user-specific location information, the location as a location of interest; presenting, based on the identifying the location as the location of interest, a user prompt for naming the location of interest; and receiving, via the user prompt, name information for naming the location.
