1

1. A method for automating audio volume based on detected physical motion of a mobile device, the method comprising: detecting motion of the mobile device based on input motion data from a motion detection mechanism; determining whether the detected motion of the mobile device exceeds a configured motion threshold; based on the determining, causing a logical state change to transition into an automated volume state; and after the logical state change to transition to the automated volume state, automatically configuring audio volume of media output associated with a mobile computing device based on configured volume and fade parameters, wherein automatically configuring the volume of the mobile computing device includes configuring the volume associated with a separate media player application and pausing audio playback when the input motion data is beneath the configured motion threshold.

2

2. The method as in claim 1 , wherein the motion data is provided by one or more of a motion sensor and a global positioning sensor receiver.

3

3. The method as in claim 1 , wherein the configured motion threshold is user configurable.

4

4. The method as in claim 1 , wherein automatically configuring the volume of the mobile computing device includes comprising receiving a selection of the separate media player application via a configuration menu provided on the mobile device.

5

5. The method as in claim 1 , wherein automatically configuring the volume of the mobile computing device starting audio playback on when the input motion data is above the motion threshold.

6

6. The method as in claim 1 , wherein automatically configuring the audio volume of media output associated with a mobile computing device includes configuring audio associated with a media player application executing on the mobile computing device.

7

7. The method as in claim 6 , further comprising receiving a selection of a media player application via a configuration menu provided on the mobile computing device.

8

8. The method as in claim 1 , wherein configuring the volume based on the configured volume and fade parameters includes increasing the volume based on an indication of increased velocity from the input motion data, wherein the increase in volume is based on a motion data value times one or more of the volume or fade parameters.

9

9. The method as in claim 1 , wherein configuring the volume of the media output based on the configured volume and fade parameters includes decreasing the volume based on an indication of decreased velocity from the input motion data, wherein the decrease in volume is based on a motion data value times one or more of the volume or fade parameters.

10

10. A system on a mobile computing device for automating audio volume based on detected physical motion of a mobile device, the mobile device having one or more processors to execute instructions from computer readable media to perform operations of the system, wherein the system comprises: a motion detection unit to detect motion of a mobile device based on a motion detection mechanism including one or more of a motion sensor and a global positioning system receiver; a state change unit to determine, based on input from the motion detection unit, whether a change in motion state has occurred and transition into an automated volume state based on a determination of whether the change in the motion state has occurred; and a fade volume unit to automatically configure an audio volume of media output provided by a mobile computing device based on configured volume and fade parameters, wherein to automatically configure the audio volume of the media output provided by the mobile computing device includes to configure the volume associated with a separate media player application and to pause audio playback when the input motion data is beneath a motion threshold.

11

11. The system as in claim 10 , wherein the state change unit is further to determine whether a change in the motion state has occurred based on motion threshold data provided to the motion detection unit.

12

12. The system as in claim 10 , wherein the fade volume unit is to increase the audio volume provided by a media device to a pre-configured volume in response to the state change unit.

13

13. The system as in claim 10 , wherein the fade volume unit is to decrease the audio volume provided by a media device to a pre-configured volume in response to the state change unit.

14

14. The system as in claim 10 , further comprising one or more motion sensors coupled to the motion detection unit to provide motion sensor data.

15

15. The system as in claim 14 , wherein the one or more motion sensors couple to a volume logic integrated circuit within a headset device, the volume logic integrated circuit including a microcontroller including the motion detection unit.

16

16. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instruction which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising: detecting motion of a mobile device based on input motion data from a motion detection mechanism including one or more of a motion sensor and a global positioning sensor receiver; determining whether the detected motion of the mobile device exceeds a configured motion threshold; based on the determining, causing a logical state change to transition into an automated volume state; and after the logical state change to transition to the automated volume state, automatically configuring an audio volume of media output provided by a mobile computing device based on configured volume and fade parameters, wherein automatically configuring the volume of the mobile computing device includes configuring the volume associated with a separate media player application and pausing audio playback on when the input motion data is beneath the configured motion threshold.

17

17. The medium as in claim 16 , wherein automatically configuring the audio volume includes transitioning out of the automated volume state when the input motion data is beneath the motion threshold.

18

18. The medium as in claim 16 , further comprising receiving a selection of the separate media player application via a configuration menu provided on the mobile device.

19

19. The medium as in claim 16 , wherein configuring the volume of the media output based on the configured volume and fade parameters includes adjusting the volume based on an indication of a change in velocity from the input motion data.

20

20. The medium as in claim 19 , wherein the change in volume is based on a motion data value times one or more of the volume or fade parameters.
