Legal claims defining the scope of protection. Each claim is shown in both the original legal language and a plain English translation.
1. An electronic device, comprising: a communication unit configured to communicate with an external device; an acquisition unit configured to access a device in which content data files are stored; and a control unit configured to provide, in response to a request from the external device, information of at least one of the stored content data files to the external device via the communication unit, wherein, when the control unit receives from the external device a request that requests information of content data files and that specifies a number, the control unit transmits to the external device the specified number of information of content data files in an order from a newest content data file from among the stored content data files.
An electronic device communicates with external devices and stores content data files. When an external device requests information about these files, the device responds by sending details of at least one file. If the external device specifies a number in its request, the electronic device sends information for that exact number of files, starting with the newest content data files first. It prioritizes sending the most recent files to the external device.
2. The electronic device according to claim 1 , wherein each information includes an ID and entry information of a corresponding content data file.
The electronic device from the previous description provides detailed file information. Each piece of file information it sends to an external device includes a unique ID for the content data file and other entry information describing the file such as a file name, creation date, or file size. This allows the external device to uniquely identify each content data file on the electronic device.
3. The electronic device according to claim 1 , wherein the electronic device provides an application programming interface (API) that enables the external device to request the information of at least one of the stored content data files, and the electronic device transmits to the external device requested information of content data files in response to an API request received from the external device.
The electronic device from the initial description offers an Application Programming Interface (API) that allows external devices to request information about stored content data files. The external devices make a request through this API, and the electronic device then transmits the requested information about the content data files back to the external device. The API manages communication and information exchange between the devices.
4. The electronic device according to claim 1 , wherein, if the request specifies an order, the control unit transmits the information of the content data files in the specified order.
The electronic device from the initial description allows the external device to specify the order in which content data files are requested. If the external device's request includes a specific order such as alphabetical or by file size, the electronic device transmits the file information in that specified order. This customization provides flexibility in how the external device retrieves content data information.
5. The electronic device according to claim 1 , wherein, if the request specifies an order, the control unit transmits the information of the content data files in the specified order, and if the request does not specify an order, the control unit transmits the information of the content data files in the order from the newest content data file.
The electronic device from the initial description allows for flexible content data file retrieval. If the external device specifies an order in its request, the file information is sent in that order. If no specific order is requested, the device defaults to sending the file information sorted from the newest file to the oldest file. This ensures the most recent files are provided first when no preferred order is given by the external device.
6. A communication system in which a first electronic device and a second electronic device are connected, the first electronic device comprising: a first communication unit configured to communicate with the second electronic device; an acquisition unit configured to access a device in which content data files are stored; and a first control unit configured to provide, in response to a request from the second electronic device, information of at least one of the stored content data files to the second electronic device via the communication unit, the second electronic device comprising: a second communication unit configured to communicate with the first electronic device; and a second control unit configured to transmit a request for information of content data files to the first electronic device via the second communication unit, and receive a response to the request via the second communication unit, wherein the second control unit transmits to the first electronic device the request specifying a number of information of content data files that are required, and the first control unit, when receiving from the second electronic device a request that requests information of content data files and that specifies a number, transmits to the second electronic device the specified number of information of content data files in an order from a newest content data file from among the stored content data files.
A communication system consists of two electronic devices that exchange information. The first device stores content data files and responds to requests from the second device, which needs information about these files. The second device sends a request to the first device, indicating the desired number of content data file information entries. The first device, upon receiving this request with a specified number, sends that exact number of file information entries back to the second device, starting with the newest content data files first.
7. A method for controlling an electronic device having communication unit for communicating with an external device, the method comprising: a control step of providing, in response to a request from the external device, information of at least one of content data files to the external device via the communication unit, wherein, in the control step, when a request that requests information of content data files and that specifies a number is received from the external device, the specified number of information of content data files are transmitted to the external device in an order from a newest content data file from among the specified number of content data files.
This describes a method for an electronic device to communicate with external devices. When an external device sends a request for information about the device's content data files, the method involves responding to the request by sending information about at least one of the files. Specifically, if the external device's request specifies a particular number of content data files, the method dictates that the electronic device sends information for that specific number of files. The files are sent from newest to oldest based on content data file creation date.
8. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as an electronic device, comprising: a communication unit configured to communicate with an external device; an acquisition unit configured to access a device in which content data files are stored; and a control unit configured to provide, in response to a request from the external device, information of at least one of the stored content data files to the external device via the communication unit, wherein, when the control unit receives from the external device a request that requests information of content data files and that specifies a number, the control unit transmits to the external device the specified number of information of content data files in an order from a newest content data file from among the stored content data files.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium (like a USB drive or hard drive) stores instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause it to function as an electronic device. This device can communicate with external devices, access stored content data files, and respond to requests for file information from external devices. If an external device requests information and specifies a number, the device will send that exact number of file information entries. The file information is sent with the most recent content data files first.
