Claim 1

Original Legal Text

1. Method for remotely delivering a full subscription profile to a UICC over IP, said UICC being installed in a terminal able to provide an IP connectivity to a remote server and give access to said UICC, sad UICC being pre-personalised with a globally unique serial number unique to said UICC and with a bootstrap application and bootstrap credentials enabling the UICC to establish a secure transport channel with said remote server, said remote server hosting a stock of subscription profiles, said method comprising: opening, at a request of said UICC, a data channel between said terminal and said server, wherein said server acts as a web server; performing a mutual authentication between said UICC and said server by using said bootstrap credentials and server credentials; requesting, from said UICC to said server, delivery of a full subscription profile by using said globally unique serial number using a pre-defined or configurable uniform resource locator; and if a subscription profile associated with said globally unique serial number exists for said UICC, downloading said full subscription profile to said UICC.

Plain English Translation

A method for remotely delivering a complete subscription profile to a UICC (Universal Integrated Circuit Card) over IP. The UICC is installed in a terminal (like a phone) with IP connectivity, allowing access to the UICC. The UICC is pre-personalized with a unique serial number and bootstrap credentials. These credentials enable the UICC to establish a secure connection with a remote server that stores subscription profiles. The method involves the UICC requesting a data channel from the terminal to the server, where the server acts as a web server. A mutual authentication is performed between the UICC and the server using the bootstrap credentials and server credentials. The UICC then requests the delivery of a full subscription profile from the server using its unique serial number and a URL. If a subscription profile associated with the serial number exists, the server downloads it to the UICC.

Claim 2

Original Legal Text

2. Method according to claim 1 , wherein http communication protocol is used between said UICC and said remote server.

Plain English Translation

The method for remotely delivering a subscription profile to a UICC over IP, where the UICC has a unique serial number and uses bootstrap credentials to connect to a remote server, utilizes the HTTP communication protocol for communication between the UICC and the remote server. The method includes opening a data channel between the terminal containing the UICC and the server, performing mutual authentication, requesting the subscription profile via the unique serial number, and downloading the profile if it exists, all while employing HTTP for data transfer.

Claim 3

Original Legal Text

3. Method according to claim 1 , wherein said UICC and said terminal communicate over a bearer independent protocol (BIP) channel.

Plain English Translation

The method for remotely delivering a subscription profile to a UICC over IP, where the UICC has a unique serial number and uses bootstrap credentials to connect to a remote server, involves the UICC and the terminal communicating over a Bearer Independent Protocol (BIP) channel. This means the communication between the UICC and the device it's installed in, which facilitates the IP connectivity, happens through BIP. The overall process still includes opening a data channel from the terminal to the server, authenticating the UICC, requesting the subscription profile, and downloading it if it exists; but the low-level communication between the UICC and the terminal uses BIP.
