Legal claims defining the scope of protection. Each claim is shown in both the original legal language and a plain English translation.

Claim 1

Original Legal Text

1. A lens driving device, comprising: a lens carrier configured for maintaining a lens; a base configured for supporting the lens carrier; a first electromagnetic drive mechanism configure for driving the lens to focus on an object to be shot; a second electromagnetic drive mechanism configured for swinging the lens; and a front side spring component and a back side spring component both extending along a peripheral direction of the lens; wherein the first electromagnetic drive mechanism and the second electromagnetic drive mechanism are mounted between the lens carrier and the base; wherein one of the front side spring component and the back side spring component is connected with the lens carrier, the other of the front side spring component and the back side spring component is connected with the base, and the front side spring component and the back side spring component are connected with each other through a plurality of connecting components.

Plain English Translation

A lens driving device for a camera includes a lens carrier that holds the lens and a base that supports the carrier. It uses a first electromagnetic mechanism to move the lens for focusing and a second electromagnetic mechanism to swing the lens for image stabilization. Both mechanisms are mounted between the lens carrier and the base. A spring system consisting of a front and back spring, linked by connecting components, provide suspension. One spring connects to the lens carrier, and the other to the base, improving durability and enabling stable autofocus and shake correction. The springs extend around the periphery of the lens.

Claim 2

Original Legal Text

2. The lens driving device according to claim 1 , wherein the first electromagnetic drive mechanism comprises a focus coil configured on a side of the base and a plurality of first magnets configured on a side of the lens carrier which is movable with respect to the side of the base; the second electromagnetic drive mechanism comprises a plurality of coils configured for swinging the lens and mounted on the side of the base and a plurality of second magnets also configured on the side of the lens carrier.

Plain English Translation

The lens driving device described previously uses a focus coil on the base and magnets on the lens carrier for focusing. The magnets move the lens carrier relative to the base. The image stabilization is achieved through swinging the lens using multiple coils on the base and multiple magnets on the lens carrier. The coils interact with the magnets to achieve the swinging motion.

Claim 3

Original Legal Text

3. The lens driving device according to claim 2 , wherein the plurality of first magnets also serves as the second magnets.

Plain English Translation

The lens driving device described using separate focus and swing mechanisms, is modified so that the same magnets on the lens carrier are used for both the focusing and image stabilization (swinging) mechanisms. This simplifies the design by removing the need for separate sets of magnets.

Claim 4

Original Legal Text

4. The lens driving device according to claim 1 , wherein the first electromagnetic drive mechanism and the second electromagnetic drive mechanism comprise a plurality of driving coils mounted on a side of the lens carrier which is movable with respect to the side of the base and a plurality of driving magnets mounted on a side of the base.

Plain English Translation

In the lens driving device, instead of coils on the base and magnets on the lens carrier, both the focus and swing electromagnetic mechanisms utilize multiple driving coils mounted on the lens carrier, which moves relative to the base, and multiple driving magnets mounted on the base. The interaction between these coils and magnets allows for both focusing and image stabilization.

Claim 5

Original Legal Text

5. The lens driving device according to claim 1 , wherein the first electromagnetic drive mechanism comprises a focus coil configured on a side of the base and a plurality of magnets configured on a side of the lens carrier which is movable with respect to the side of the base; the second electromagnetic drive mechanism comprises a plurality of coils configured for swinging the lens and mounted on the side of the base and the plurality of magnets.

Plain English Translation

The lens driving device uses a focus coil on the base and magnets on the lens carrier for focusing. The image stabilization (swinging) uses multiple coils on the base, interacting with the *same* magnets used for focusing on the lens carrier. Thus, the lens carrier magnets serve dual purpose for both focus and image stabilization controlled by separate coil sets.
