Legal claims defining the scope of protection. Each claim is shown in both the original legal language and a plain English translation.
1. A method for validating access by a user to a drug locked in a container, the method comprising the following steps: the container generating a status code representing usage history of the drug by the user based on a history of the container being opened; communicating the status code generated by the container through a communication channel to a master system; processing the status code to determine whether to provide access to the drug based on the usage history represented by the status code; generating limited-use access authorization data for the container, if it is determined to provide access to the drug locked in the container; the master system communicating the limited-use access authorization data and using the limited-use access authorization data received from the master system to unlock the container.
A system for controlling access to medication in a locked container works as follows: the container tracks how often it's opened and creates a "status code" reflecting the user's medication usage history. This status code is sent to a central "master system" via a communication channel (e.g., internet). The master system analyzes the status code to decide whether to grant access to the medication based on the user's usage history. If access is approved, the master system generates a "limited-use access authorization data" (a code) specifically for that container. This access code is sent back to the container, and the container uses it to unlock, allowing the user to get their medication.
2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the container generating a subsequent status code representing updated drug usage by the user based upon at least the unlocking of the container.
Building upon the system for controlling access to medication described above, after the container has been unlocked and medication accessed, the container generates a new status code. This subsequent status code now reflects the updated medication usage pattern, taking into account at least the most recent unlocking event. This updated status code would then be communicated back to the master system for further analysis and access control decisions in future interactions.
