Technical Abstract

A video stream from a webcam or video telephone is received. The video stream can be analyzed in real-time as it is being received or can be recorded and stored for later analysis. Information within the video streams can be extracted and processed by a facial and video content recognition engine and the information derived therefrom can be stored as metadata. The metadata can be used for enriching the call content recorded by a recorder. The information derived from the video streams can be used to solve business and legal issues.

1

1. A method for enhancing call content of a telephone call to be recorded using information from a facial and video content recognition engine comprising: generating the telephone call at a first communications device, wherein the telephone call is routed over a network to a second communications device; receiving, at a call control server and from the first communications device, a video stream along with an audio stream of the telephone call, wherein the call control server determines routing of the call to a call center and/or a recording subsystem; after the call control server receiving at least a portion of the video stream and/or the audio stream but prior to the call control server routing the telephone call to the second communications device, using the facial and video content recognition engine to extract information from the video stream or the audio stream and to analyze the extracted information to derive metadata associated with the call content from the telephone call; matching extracted information received from the facial and video content recognition engine with a data store of known persons; after the matching, recording the telephone call in accordance with the routing, the matching and the metadata, wherein the metadata is used to determine a technique for recording the telephone call; and using the call control server to route the telephone call according to routing logic implemented at the call control server in accordance with the metadata.

2

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the metadata is queried for statistical information.

3

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising storing the metadata in a data store.

4

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the analyzing of the extracted information occurs in real time as the telephone call is being received by the call control server and prior to the routing.

5

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recording comprises using a load balancing technique to direct the telephone call to a selected recorder in accordance with the metadata.
