Technical Abstract

A method and apparatus capable of minimizing power consumption occurring when a mobile device is changed from a sleep state to a wake-up state by partially controlling on/off of a display unit and partial booting control of a system function are provided. The method includes detecting a change of the mobile device from a sleep state to a wake-up state, turning on a display unit of the mobile device such that a first section of the mobile device displays an operating region, the first section including one or more portions of the display unit and less than an entire screen of the display unit and waiting for a system function registered in the operating region.

1

1. An electronic device comprising: a display; at least one processor; and a memory configured to store instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to: receive an interaction for causing the electronic device to transition from a state where the display is not driven to a state where the display is driven, control to display, based on receiving the interaction in a first state, an entire area of the display to display a first screen, control to display, based on receiving the interaction in a second state, only a partial area of the display to display a second screen, receive an input for selecting an icon displayed on the second screen, and control to display only the partial area of the display to an execution screen of an application associated with the selected icon.

2

2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to store instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to: determine whether the electronic device is in the first state or the second state in response to receiving the interaction.

3

3. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to store instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to: determine whether the electronic device is in the first state or the second state while the electronic device is in the state where the display is not driven.

4

4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the first screen comprises a plurality of application icons, and wherein the second screen comprises at least one application icon of the plurality of application icons.

5

5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the interaction is a user interaction comprising an input of a predetermined key or an input of a specific key for less than a preset time.

6

6. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the interaction is an external communication interaction comprising at least one of an incoming call or an incoming message.

7

7. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to store instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to: receive a first user interaction while controlling to display only the partial area of the display to display the second screen; and control to display, based on the receiving of the first user interaction, the entire area of the display to display the first screen.

8

8. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to store instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to: receive a second user interaction while controlling to display the entire area of the display to display the first screen; and control to display, based on the receiving of the second user interaction, only the partial area of the display to display the second screen.

9

9. A method of operating an electronic device, the method comprising: receiving an interaction for causing the electronic device to transition from a state where a display is not driven to a state where the display is driven, controlling to display, based on the receiving of the interaction when the electronic device is in a first state, an entire area of the display to display a first screen, controlling to display, based on the receiving of the interaction when the electronic device is in a second state, only a partial area of the display to display a second screen, receiving an input for selecting an icon displayed on the second screen, and controlling to display only the partial area of the display to an execution screen of an application associated with the selected icon.

10

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising: determining whether the electronic device is in the first state or the second state in response to receiving the interaction.

11

11. The method of claim 9 , further comprising: determining whether the electronic device is in the first state or the second state while the electronic device is in the state where the display is not driven.

12

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein the first screen comprises a plurality of application icons, and wherein the second screen comprises at least one application icon of the plurality of application icons.

13

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the interaction is a user interaction comprising an input of a predetermined key or an input of a specific key for less than a preset time.

14

14. The method of claim 9 , wherein the interaction is an external communication interaction comprising at least one of an incoming call or an incoming message.

15

15. The method of claim 9 , further comprising: receiving a first user interaction while controlling to display only the partial area of the display to display the second screen; and controlling to display, based on the receiving of the user first interaction, the entire area of the display to display the first screen.

16

16. The method of claim 9 , further comprising: receiving a second user interaction while controlling to display the entire area of the display to display the first screen; and controlling to display, based on the receiving of the second user interaction, only the partial area of the display to display the second screen.

17

17. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium with instructions stored thereon executed by at least on processor to perform a method of operating an electronic device, the method comprising: receiving an interaction for causing the electronic device to transition from a state where a display is not driven to a state where the display is driven, controlling to display, based on the receiving of the interaction when the electronic device is in a first state, an entire area of the display to display a first screen, controlling to display, based on the receiving of the interaction when the electronic device is in a second state, only a partial area of the display to display a second screen, receiving an input for selecting an icon displayed on the second screen, and controlling to display only the partial area of the display to an execution screen of an application associated with the selected icon.

18

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein method further comprises: receiving a first user interaction while controlling to display only the partial area of the display to display the second screen; and controlling to display, based on the receiving of the user first interaction, the entire area of the display to display the first screen.

19

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein method further comprises: receiving a second user interaction while controlling to display the entire area of the display to display the first screen; and controlling to display, based on the receiving of the second user interaction, only the partial area of the display to display the second screen.

20

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein method further comprises: determining whether the electronic device is in the first state or the second state in response to receiving the interaction, or determining whether the electronic device is in the first state or the second state while the electronic device is in the state where the display is not driven.
