Technical Abstract

A portable audio input/output device may include an assembly enclosure that contains electrical and mechanical components of the device. A substantially cylindrical frame may encircle the assembly enclosure and may be surrounded by a tube of seamless material. A top end of the tube of seamless material may fold over a top end of the substantially cylindrical frame, and a bottom end of the tube of seamless material may fold over a bottom end of the substantially cylindrical frame. A cover assembly may couple to a top end of the assembly enclosure and secure the top end of the seamless fabric. A charging foot may be coupled to a bottom end of the assembly enclosure and secure the bottom end of the seamless fabric.

1. An audio device comprising: a housing comprising a frame having a substantially round cross section, the frame having a first end and first rim associated with the first end; a seamless tube of material disposed over the frame and having (i) a first open end wrapped over the first rim and (ii) a second open end; and a cover assembly positioned at the first end of the frame such that the first open end of the seamless tube of material is positioned between the cover assembly and the first rim of the frame.

2. The audio device of claim 1 , further comprising one or more light sources disposed within the housing and below a top surface of the cover assembly, the one or more light sources being positioned to emit light through at least a portion of the cover assembly.

3. The audio device of claim 2 , further comprising a light guide disposed between the one or more lights sources and the cover assembly, wherein the light guide conveys the light from the one or more light sources and through the at least the portion of the cover assembly.

4. The audio device of claim 1 , wherein the cover assembly includes one or more input mechanisms configured to detect a touch input.

5. The audio device of claim 4 , wherein the one or more input mechanisms includes a capacitive sensor.

The audio device of claim 4 , further configured to receive touch input, wherein the touch input causes the audio device to: stop outputting first audio data using a speaker of the audio device; or change a volume associated with the first audio data; or stop outputting the first audio data and output second audio data.

7. The audio device of claim 1 , wherein the seamless tube of material comprises a fabric material.

The audio device of claim 1 , wherein: the frame further comprises a second end and a second rim associated with the second end, the second end opposing the first end; and the audio device further comprises: a bottom cover positioned at the second end such that the second open end of the seamless tube of material is positioned between the bottom cover and the second rim of the frame.

An electronic device comprising: a housing comprising a frame having a substantially round cross section, the frame having a first end and a first rim associated with the first end; a seamless tube of material disposed over at least a portion of the frame and having (i) a first open end and (ii) a second open end; a cover assembly positioned at the first end of the frame, wherein the cover assembly includes one or more sensors; one or more light sources disposed within the frame and below a top surface of the cover assembly, wherein the one or more light sources are positioned to emit light through at least a portion of the cover assembly; and a light guide disposed between the one or more light sources and the cover assembly, wherein the light guide conveys the light from the one or more light sources and through the at least the portion of the cover assembly.

10. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the cover assembly is positioned at the first end of the frame such that the first open end of the seamless tube of material is positioned between the first rim of the frame and the cover assembly.

11. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the one or more sensors of the cover assembly comprises at least one of a capacitive sensor or an optical sensor.

12. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the seamless tube of material comprises a fabric material.

The electronic device of claim 9 , further configured to receive touch input, wherein the touch input causes the electronic device to: stop outputting first audio data using a speaker of the electronic device; or change a volume associated with the first audio data; or stop outputting the first audio data and output second audio data.

An electronic device comprising: a housing comprising a frame having: a substantially round cross section; a first end having a first rim; and a second end; a top cover portion disposed at the first end of the frame; a bottom cover portion disposed at the second end of the frame; and a seamless fabric material disposed over the frame such that (i) a first open end of the seamless fabric material is wrapped over the first rim of the first end of the frame and compressed between the first rim and the top cover portion and (ii) a second open end of the seamless fabric material is adjacent the second end of the frame.

15. The electronic device of claim 14 , wherein the top cover portion of the frame includes one or more sensors.

The electronic device of claim 14 , wherein: the frame has a second rim associated with the second end; the bottom cover portion is positioned at the second end of the frame such that the second open end of the seamless fabric material is positioned between the bottom cover portion and the second rim of the frame.

17. The electronic device of claim 14 , further comprising one or more light sources disposed within the housing and below a top surface of the top cover portion, wherein the one or more light sources are positioned to emit light through at least a portion of the top cover portion.

18. The electronic device of claim 14 , wherein the bottom cover portion includes one or more electrically-conducting contacts configured to receive external power to power the electronic device.
