Technical Abstract

A system for and method of transmitting verifiable e-mail includes a message ID sent to a recipient of the e-mail. A system for and method of transmitting encrypted files using email and other electronic communication channels includes a computer program for storing encrypted files supplied by a user, creating a link to 5 the encrypted files to be e-mailed to a recipient, allowing download of the encrypted files when an authorization code is provided after the link is used to go to a system server, wherein the authorization code is sent to a telephone of the recipient, via text or aurally.

1. A method of sending encrypted files, comprising providing a computer program accessed by a sending user, wherein the computer program prompts the sending user to: choose a file or files on a computing device; and choose an encryption password to encrypt the file or files; and wherein the computer program: prompts the sending user for a phone number of a receiving user; encrypts the file or files using the encryption password; uploads the encrypted file or files and phone number to a system server; receives from the system server a message identifier generated by the system server which is uniquely associated with the encrypted file or files, wherein the system server does not have access to the encryption password; writes the message identifier into an email message; writes a link to the encrypted file or files into the e-mail message; writes the encryption password into the e-mail message; prompts the sending user to send the e-mail message to the receiving user; wherein retrieval and decryption instructions are automatically included in the e-mail message and include the link to the encrypted file or files, and the link is not a hyperlink; when the e-mail message is opened by the receiving user and the receiving user enters the message identifier at the link, the program displays a portion of the phone number and prompts the receiving user to choose a method of receiving an authentication code either by text message or voice call; the program sends the authentication code via the method chosen; the program prompts the receiving user to enter the authentication code once it is received; when the program successfully verifies the authentication code, the program allows the receiving user to save the encrypted file from the system server based on the message identifier and then prompts the receiving user to select a location on a device to save the encrypted file or files; and the program saves the encrypted file or files to the location, wherein the receiving user enters the encryption password provided in the e-mail message to decrypt the encrypted file or files.

2

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the device can be a smart phone, tablet or other file storage device.

3

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the portion of the receiving user's phone number is the last 4 digits of the receiving user's phone number.

4

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer program runs on the computing device.

5

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer program can be accessed directly from an e-mail program of the sending user.

6

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer program notifies the sending user that text contained in the e-mail message is not encrypted.

7

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer program notifies the sending user that any confidential message should be included in a separate document and encrypted with the file or files.

8

8. The method of claim 7 wherein the document is a Word document.

9

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the file or files are encrypted in a zip file.

10

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the computer program can create a plain text file within a dialog box using a universal text editor, and encrypts the plain text file as a separate file automatically in the encrypted ZIP file.

11

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the system server is a cloud server or cloud computing system.

12

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer program allows the sending user to review a table of transmissions which contains at least: upload information including date and time, IPaddress uploaded from, and file address hyperlink of each upload; and download information including date and time, IPaddress downloaded to, number of downloads, and unsuccessful authentication code entries by receiving user.

13

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authentication code is non-persistent.

14

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the authentication code expires after 3-10 minutes.

15

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the authentication code expires after 3 minutes.

16

16. The method of claim 13 , wherein the authentication code expires after 10 seconds.
