Technical Abstract

Theft increases the average product cost to consumers. A mentoring system is presented that can help to reduce or prevent the inventory from lost or theft. Theft is a serious concern in the consumer market place. Industry loses billions per year on theft of merchandise. According to a Reuters report, last year, thefts by employees of U.S. retail merchandise accounted for $15.9 billion, or 44 percent of theft losses at stores, more than shoplifting and vendor fraud combined. Thus, the total thief by the customers and store employees during the year 2008 amounted to $36 billion. Several embodiments of ways to control or reduce the thefts in the market place are presented.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said first volume is separate and mutually exclusive of said second volume or said first wireless link is separate and mutually exclusive of said second wireless link.

3

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising: at least one energy transfer unit that powers said one or more first components and said one or more second components.

4

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said volume of said cell is adjusted by varying either a location or an output power of corresponding said at least one reference block forming said at least one of said plurality of boundaries while remaining said plurality of boundaries are physical partitions.

5

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein an output power of a component is set equal to an output power of one of corresponding said at least one reference block.

6

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising: a master processor configured to receive notice of when a component is outside of said volume, and configured to send said visual monitoring system all information of said component, comprising information of aisle location, shelf position, shelf layer, cost, when said component was placed into said volume, weight, or size of said component.

7

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising: a master processor configured to receive notice of when a component is outside of said volume, and configured to instruct said visual monitoring system comprised of cameras, said visual monitoring system configured to visually identify said component, and said visual monitoring system configured to follow said component.

8

8. An apparatus comprising: a first cell and a second cell selected from a plurality of cells, wherein a first volume of said first cell is defined by a plurality of first boundaries enclosing said first volume and a second volume of said second cell is defined by a plurality of second boundaries enclosing said second volume; one or more first components located within said first volume and one or more second components located within said second volume; at least one first reference block placed at one of a plurality of first locations configured to establish at least one first boundary of said plurality of first boundaries in said first cell defining said first volume; at least one second reference block placed at one of a plurality of second locations configured to establish at least one second boundary of said plurality of second boundaries in said second cell defining said second volume; one or more first wireless links established within said first volume to communicate to said one or more first components within said first volume; and one or more second wireless links established within said second volume to communicate to said one or more second components within said second volume, wherein whenever one of said one or more first components are unable to communicate on said one or more first wireless links identifies said one of said one or more first components are outside of their corresponding said volumes of said cells or one of said one or more second components are unable to communicate on said one or more second wireless links identifies said one of said one or more second components are outside of said corresponding volumes of said cells.

9

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein said first volume is separate and mutually exclusive of said second volume or said first wireless link is separate and mutually exclusive of said second wireless link.

10

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , further comprising: at least one energy transfer unit that powers said one or more first components and said one or more second components.

11

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein said volume of said cell is adjusted by varying either a location or an output power of corresponding said at least one reference block forming said at least one of said plurality of boundaries while remaining said plurality of boundaries are physical partitions.

12

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein an output power of a component is set equal to an output power of one of corresponding said at least one reference block.

13

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein once a component is outside of said volume, a visual monitoring system is configured to monitor said component.

14

14. The apparatus of claim 13 , further comprising: a master processor configured to receive notice of when a component is outside of said volume, and configured to send said visual monitoring system all information of said component, comprising information of aisle location, shelf position, shelf layer, cost, when said component was placed into said volume, weight, or size of said component.

15

15. The apparatus of claim 13 , further comprising: a master processor configured to receive notice of when a component is outside of said volume, and configured to instruct said visual monitoring system comprised of cameras, said visual monitoring system configured to visually identify said component, and said visual monitoring system configured to follow said component.

16
