Technical Abstract

A method of supplying power in a wireless power receiver can include receiving an AC power via a reception coil in the wireless power receiver; rectifying the AC power to a DC power; transferring the DC power to a load during a charging mode when a voltage of the DC power is equal to or greater than a first threshold voltage corresponding to a target charging power for charging the load; and when the DC power being transferred to the load is less than the target charging power, maintaining the load in the charging mode while the voltage of the DC power is equal to or greater than a second threshold voltage in a state of the charging mode, in which the first threshold voltage is greater than the second threshold voltage.

1. A method of supplying power in a wireless power receiver, the method comprising: receiving an AC power via a reception coil in the wireless power receiver; rectifying the AC power to a DC power; transferring the DC power to a load during a charging mode when a voltage of the DC power is equal to or greater than a first threshold voltage corresponding to a target charging power for charging the load; and when the DC power being transferred to the load is less than the target charging power, maintaining the load in the charging mode while the voltage of the DC power is equal to or greater than a second threshold voltage in a state of the charging mode, wherein the first threshold voltage is greater than the second threshold voltage.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising: blocking the DC power to the load when the voltage of the DC power is less than the second threshold voltage.

3. The method of claim 1 , comprising: measuring the voltage of the DC power.

4. The method of claim 3 , comprising: blocking the DC power to the load when the voltage of the DC power transitions from a voltage higher than the second threshold voltage to a lower voltage less than the second threshold voltage.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first threshold voltage is a minimum voltage required for the load to enter the charging mode.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second threshold voltage is a minimum voltage required for the load to maintain the charging mode.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first threshold is at least 4.2V.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the load is charged at a slower rate than intended when the DC power being transferred to the load is less than the target charging power.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the wireless power receiver continues to function by charging the load when the DC power being transferred to the load is less than the target charging power.

A wireless power receiver comprising: a reception coil configured to output an AC power; a rectifier configured to rectify the AC power to a DC power; and a controller configured to: transfer the DC power to a load during a charging mode when a voltage of the DC power is equal to or greater than a first threshold voltage corresponding to a target charging power for charging the load, and when the DC power being transferred to the load is less than the target charging power, maintain the load in the charging mode while the voltage of the DC power is equal to or greater than a second threshold voltage in a state of the charging mode, wherein the first threshold voltage is greater than the second threshold voltage.

11. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to: block the DC power to the load when the voltage of the DC power is less than the second threshold voltage.

12. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to: block the DC power to the load when the voltage of the DC power transitions from a voltage higher than the second threshold voltage to a lower voltage less than the second threshold voltage.

13. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to: measure the voltage of the DC power.

14. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the first threshold voltage is a minimum voltage required for the load to enter the charging mode.

15. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the second threshold voltage is a minimum voltage required for the load to maintain the charging mode.

16. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the first threshold is at least 4.2V.

17. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the load is charged at a slower rate than intended when the DC power being transferred to the load is less than the target charging power.

18. The wireless power receiver of claim 10 , wherein the wireless power receiver is configured to continue to function by charging the load when the DC power being transferred to the load is less than the target charging power.
