Technical Abstract

A method for controlling a wireless power transmitter is provided herein. The method includes outputting a first power for detecting a change in a load impedance of the wireless power transmitter; detecting the change in the load impedance of the wireless power transmitter; outputting a second power for communicating with a wireless power receiver; receiving, from the wireless power receiver, a first signal within a preset time period after detecting the change in the load impedance; determining whether a reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to a threshold; and based on determining that the reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to the threshold, excluding the wireless power receiver from a wireless power network of the wireless power transmitter, the wireless power receiver being outside of the charging range of the wireless power transmitter.

1. A method for controlling a wireless power transmitter, the method comprising: outputting a first power for detecting a change in a load impedance of the wireless power transmitter; detecting the change in the load impedance of the wireless power transmitter; in response to detecting the change in the load impedance, outputting a second power for communicating with an external device; receiving, from a wireless power receiver, a first signal within a preset time period after detecting the change in the load impedance; determining whether a reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to a threshold; and based on determining that the reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to the threshold, terminating a communication in connection with the first signal from the wireless power receiver, the wireless power receiver being outside of the charging range of the wireless power transmitter.

2

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining whether the reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to the threshold comprises: identifying a minimum reception intensity; setting a determination range based on the minimum reception intensity; and determining whether the reception intensity of the first signal is within the determination range.

3

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the identifying the minimum reception intensity comprises: identifying the minimum reception intensity from among first signals received from a plurality of wireless power receivers.

4

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the setting the determination range based on the minimum reception intensity comprises: identifying a preset offset based on the minimum reception intensity; and identifying the determination range based on the preset offset.

5

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: based on determining that the reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to the threshold, determining that the wireless power transmitter forms a cross-connection with the wireless power receiver.

6

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: transmitting a second signal to the wireless power receiver when the reception intensity of the first signal is not less than or equal to the threshold.

7

7. A wireless power transmitter, comprising: a resonator; a wireless communication circuit; and a controller configured to: control the wireless power transmitter to output a first power for detecting a change in a load impedance of the wireless power transmitter through the resonator, detect the change in the load impedance of the wireless power transmitter, in response to detecting the change in the load impedance, control the wireless power transmitter to output a second power for communicating with an external device through the resonator, receive, from a wireless power receiver, through the wireless communication circuit, a first signal within a preset time period after detecting the change in the load impedance, determine whether a reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to a threshold, and based on determining that the reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to the threshold, terminate a communication in connection with the first signal from the wireless power receiver, the wireless power receiver being outside of a charging range of the wireless power transmitter.

8

8. The wireless power transmitter of claim 7 , wherein the controller is further configured to: identify a minimum reception intensity, set a determination range based on the minimum reception intensity, and determine whether the reception intensity of the first signal is within the determination range.

9

9. The wireless power transmitter of claim 8 , wherein the controller is further configured to: identify the minimum reception intensity from among first signals received from a plurality of wireless power receivers.

10

10. The wireless power transmitter of claim 8 , wherein the controller is further configured to: identify a preset offset based on the minimum reception intensity, and identify the determination range based on the preset offset.

11

11. The wireless power transmitter of claim 7 , wherein the controller is further configured to: based on determining that the reception intensity of the first signal is less than or equal to the threshold, determine that the wireless power transmitter forms a cross-connection with the wireless power receiver.

12

12. The wireless power transmitter of claim 7 , wherein the controller is further configured to: transmit a second signal to the wireless power receiver when the reception intensity of the first signal is not less than or equal to the threshold.
