An apparatus includes a reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) having an input port to receive a first optical signal from a second device. The ROADM also includes a first wavelength selective switch (WSS), in optical communication with the input port, to convert the first optical signal into a second optical signal, a loopback, in optical communication with the first WSS, to transmit the second optical signal, and a second WSS, in optical communication with the loopback, to convert the second optical signal to a third optical signal and direct the third optical signal back to the second device via the input port.
Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the multiplexer/demultiplexer is a fixed-color multiplexer/demultiplexer.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the multiplexer/demultiplexer is a colorless multiplexer/demultiplexer.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein updating the connection table includes updating the connection table with the identification information associated with the ROADM, the user port associated with the ROADM, and the client port associated with the multiplexer/demultiplexer.
11. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the first set of signals are caused to be sent to the set of ROADMs via a set of multiplexers/demultiplexers operatively coupled to the set of ROADMs.
12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the set of multiplexers/demultiplexers includes at least one of a fixed-color multiplexer/demultiplexer or a colorless multiplexer/demultiplexer.
13. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the predetermined expiration time is 3 minutes.
14. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein updating the connection table includes updating the connection table with a set of identification information associated with the set of ROADMs and a set of user ports associated with the set of ROADMs.
19. The non-transitory processor-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the predetermined expiration time is between 30 seconds and 10 minutes.
20. The non-transitory processor-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the multiplexer/demultiplexer is at least one of a fixed-color multiplexer/demultiplexer or a colorless multiplexer/demultiplexer.
