Technical Abstract

A system, method and apparatus for detecting the presence of a portable computing device (a smart phone device) in an area of proximity to a vendor to determine relevant pertinent information. A beacon device at a retail location establishes communication with a user's smart phone device which detection is then send to a remotely located server. The remotely located server determines if the detected portable computing device is associated with a predefined category of user. Contingent upon the category of user determination, a determination is made regarding information pertinent to the user. The pertinent information is then caused to be sent to the user's smart phone device.

2. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 1, wherein the beacon component is further operative to determine product availability for purchase of the one or more items that match a user's dwelling while the user is located in proximity to the retail store.

3

3. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 2, further including providing a purchase notification to the user if the one or more items that match a user's dwelling are determined available for purchase in the retail store.

4

4. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 3, wherein the beacon component is further operative to cause a signal to be transmitted from the beacon component with pertinent information to the user device indicating product availability of the one or more items determined associated with the retail store that match a user's dwelling.

5

5. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 4, wherein the beacon component is further configured to determine a packaging size associated with the one or more items determined associated with the retail store that match a user's dwelling.

6

6. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 5, wherein the beacon component is further configured to determine whether a vehicle associated with the user can accommodate the determined packaging size of the one or more items associated with the user's dwelling.

7

7. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 1, wherein the user device is a smart phone.

8

8. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 1, wherein the beacon component is positioned in a parking lot that is in proximity to the retail store.

9

9. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 8, wherein the beacon component is further operative to determine product availability of one or more items associated with a user's dwelling while the user is located in the parking lot that is in proximity to a retail store.

10

10. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 9, wherein the beacon component is further operative to cause a signal to be transmitted from the beacon component with information to the user device indicating product availability of the one or more items associated with the user's dwelling while the user is located in the parking lot that is in proximity to a retail store.

11

11. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 8, wherein the beacon component is further configured to determine pricing information associated with the one or more items associated with the user's dwelling while the user is located in the parking lot that is in proximity to a retail store.

13

13. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 12, wherein the user device is a smart phone device.

14

14. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 13, wherein the beacon component is further operative to determine product availability of the one or more items determined associated with a user's dwelling in the retail store by the user while the user is located in the parking lot in proximity to the retail store.

15

15. The beacon detection device as recited in claim 14, wherein the beacon component is further operative to cause a signal to be transmitted from the beacon component with pertinent information to the user smart phone device indicating product availability of the one or more items associated with a user's dwelling while the user is located in the parking lot in proximity to the retail store.

16

16. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 15, wherein the beacon component is further configured to determine a packaging size associated with the one or more items associated with a user's dwelling while the user is located in the parking lot in proximity to the retail store.

17

17. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 16, wherein the beacon component is further configured to determine whether a vehicle associated with the user can accommodate the determined packaging size of the one or more items associated with a user's dwelling while the user is located in the parking lot in proximity to the retail store.

18

18. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 12, wherein the user device is a tablet device.
