Technical Abstract

Introduced here are containers designed to promote compliance with regimens for administering the medications stored therein. These containers have various features that allow them to be more easily managed by the individuals to whom the medications were prescribed. Some features improve the ease with which containers communicate with individuals. These features may enable information to be more easily input by individuals and/or output for individuals in a comprehensible manner. Other features improve the mechanical or electrical durability of containers. Such features may enable the containers to be used by individuals over the course of several days, weeks, or months without worrying about structural damage or loss of power.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein priority is determined based on priority measures assigned to different types of data by the computer program.

4

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first wireless communication channel is initiated in accordance with the short-range communication protocol.

5

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the signal is one of multiple signals broadcast by the container in accordance with the short-range communication protocol on a periodic basis.

6

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the short-range communication protocol is the Bluetooth communication protocol.

7

7. The method of claim 1, wherein requests to initiate synchronization are received by the container on an ad hoc basis.

8

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the computer program is a mobile application, and wherein the electronic device is a mobile phone that is associated with an individual to whom the medication is prescribed.

10

10. The non-transitory medium of claim 9, wherein said determining involves parsing the signal to discover whether a flag is present that indicates new data regarding administrations of the medication has been generated since a most recent transmission of data regarding administrations of the medication from the container.

11

11. The non-transitory medium of claim 9, wherein the wireless communication channel is established in accordance with a short-range communication protocol.

12

12. The non-transitory medium of claim 9, wherein the plurality of signals are representative of advertising signals that are periodically broadcast by the container over a wireless personal area network.

15

15. The container of claim 14, wherein the processor is further configured to assign measures indicative of priority to the data, so that the data is transmittable to the electronic device in decreasing order of priority.

16

16. The container of claim 14, wherein the data includes high-priority data related to administrations of medication and low-priority data related to status of the container.

17

17. The container of claim 16, wherein the response is representative of a request to transmit high-priority data, if any, generated since a most recent synchronization with the electronic device.

19

19. The container of claim 18, wherein the memory, the communication circuitry, and the processor are included in the cap.
