Technical Abstract

The embodiments relate to a radar control device and method. Specifically, a radar control device according to the embodiments may include a transceiver configured to transmit a transmission signal to the surroundings of a host vehicle and receive a reception signal received by reflecting the transmission signal on an object, a determiner configured to generate a first range-Doppler map by performing fast Fourier transform (FFT) on the reception signal and generate a second range-Doppler map based on a comparison group including a plurality of preset temporary lateral distances, and determine a correlation coefficient between the first range-Doppler map and the second range-Doppler map, and an estimator configured to estimate a lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object based on the correlation coefficient.

1

1. A radar control device comprising: a transceiver configured to transmit a transmission signal to the surroundings of a host vehicle and receive a reception signal received by reflecting the transmission signal on an object; a determiner configured to generate a first range-Doppler map by performing fast Fourier transform (FFT) on the reception signal and generate a second range-Doppler map based on a comparison group including a plurality of preset temporary lateral distances, and determine a correlation coefficient between the first range-Doppler map and the second range-Doppler map; and an estimator configured to estimate a lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object based on the correlation coefficient.

2

2. The radar control device of claim 1, wherein, if the correlation coefficient exceeds a predetermined value, the estimator estimates a temporary lateral distance corresponding to the correlation coefficient as the lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object.

3

3. The radar control device of claim 2, wherein the plurality of temporary lateral distances are set at the same interval from a lane in which the host vehicle is traveling.

4

4. The radar control device of claim 3, wherein, if the correlation coefficient is less than or equal to the predetermined value, the estimator sets an interval between the plurality of temporary lateral distances narrower.

5

5. The radar control device of claim 1, wherein, if there are a plurality of correlation coefficients exceeding a predetermined value, the estimator estimates a temporary lateral distance corresponding to a correlation coefficient with the highest value as the lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object.

6

6. The radar control device of claim 1, wherein, if there are a plurality of correlation coefficients exceeding a predetermined value, the estimator estimates a temporary lateral distance closest to the host vehicle among temporary lateral distances corresponding to the plurality of correlation coefficients as the lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object.

7

7. The radar control device of claim 1, wherein the second range-Doppler map is generated with a value having a peak power.

8

8. A radar control method comprising: transmitting a transmission signal to the surroundings of a host vehicle and receiving a reception signal received by reflecting the transmission signal on an object; generating a first range-Doppler map by performing fast Fourier transform (FFT) on the reception signal and generating a second range-Doppler map based on a comparison group including a plurality of preset temporary lateral distances, and determining a correlation coefficient between the first range-Doppler map and the second range-Doppler map; and estimating a lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object based on the correlation coefficient.

9

9. The radar control method of claim 8, wherein estimating comprises, if the correlation coefficient exceeds a predetermined value, estimating a temporary lateral distance corresponding to the correlation coefficient as the lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object.

10

10. The radar control method of claim 9, wherein estimating comprises, if there are a plurality of correlation coefficients exceeding a predetermined value, estimating a temporary lateral distance corresponding to a correlation coefficient with the highest value as the lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object.

11

11. The radar control method of claim 9, wherein estimating comprises, if there are a plurality of correlation coefficients exceeding a predetermined value, estimating a temporary lateral distance closest to the host vehicle among temporary lateral distances corresponding to the plurality of correlation coefficients as the lateral distance between the host vehicle and the object.

12

12. The radar control method of claim 9, wherein the plurality of temporary lateral distances are set at the same interval from a lane in which the host vehicle is traveling.

13

13. The radar control method of claim 12, wherein determining comprises, if the correlation coefficient is less than or equal to the predetermined value, setting an interval between the plurality of temporary lateral distances narrower.

14

14. The radar control method of claim 9, wherein the second range-Doppler map is generated with a value having a peak power.
