A method for using a fluid testing system in fluid communication with a fluid piping system includes providing a pit housing, the pit housing defining an interior pit cavity, a curb stop valve of a curb stop assembly mounted within the interior pit cavity; opening the curb stop valve to permit fluid to flow through the curb stop valve and into a sampling pipe, the sampling pipe at least partially mounted within the interior pit cavity; and dispensing a fluid sample of the fluid from the sampling pipe through a sampling assembly, the sampling assembly mounted within a sampling station housing.
Legal claims defining the scope of protection, as filed with the USPTO.
1. A method for using a fluid testing system in fluid communication with a fluid piping system, the method comprising: providing a pit housing, a pressure transducer, and a curb stop assembly including a curb stop valve and a curb stop rod operably engaged with the curb stop valve, the pit housing defining an interior pit cavity and a pit lid opening, wherein the curb stop valve of the curb stop assembly is mounted within a sampling station housing in the interior pit cavity, the pressure transducer positioned in the interior pit cavity on a conduit extending between the curb stop valve and the pit housing, and the curb stop rod extends upwardly through the pit lid opening; opening the curb stop valve by actuating the curb stop rod to permit fluid to flow through the curb stop valve and into a sampling pipe, the sampling pipe at least partially mounted within the interior pit cavity; and dispensing a fluid sample of the fluid from the sampling pipe through a sampling assembly, the sampling assembly mounted within the sampling station housing.
2. The method of claim 1, further comprising measuring a pressure of the fluid with the pressure transducer.
3. The method of claim 2, wherein: the fluid testing system further comprises an inlet conduit coupled to the curb stop valve and configured to transport the fluid to the curb stop valve; and the pressure transducer is communicatively coupled to a pressure monitor.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein the pit housing defines a pit access opening, and wherein an inlet conduit extends through the pit access opening.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein the curb stop rod is received within a curb stop sleeve of the curb stop assembly.
6. The method of claim 5, wherein: the curb stop assembly further comprises a valve cap coupled to the curb stop valve; a proximal end of the curb stop rod engages the valve cap; and actuating the curb stop rod moves the valve cap from a closed orientation to an open orientation.
7. The method of claim 6, further comprising closing the curb stop valve to prevent the fluid from flowing through the curb stop valve, and wherein closing the curb stop valve comprises actuating the curb stop rod to move the valve cap from the open orientation to the closed orientation.
8. The method of claim 7, wherein the valve cap is rotatable relative to the curb stop valve between the open orientation and the closed orientation.
9. The method of claim 6, wherein the curb stop assembly further comprises a curb stop guide coupled to the curb stop valve and configured to guide the proximal end of the curb stop rod into engagement with the valve cap.
10. The method of claim 9, wherein the valve cap is housed within the curb stop guide.
11. The method of claim 6, wherein the curb stop sleeve defines a sleeve opening distal to the valve cap, and wherein a rod key end of the curb stop rod is accessible through the sleeve opening.
12. The method of claim 11, wherein actuating the curb stop rod comprises engaging the rod key end of the curb stop rod and rotating the curb stop rod within the curb stop sleeve, and wherein rotating the curb stop rod within the curb stop sleeve rotates the valve cap from the closed orientation to the open orientation.
13. The method of claim 6, wherein the curb stop assembly further comprises a curb stop guide coupled to the curb stop valve that guides the proximal end of the curb stop rod into engagement with the valve cap housed within the curb stop guide.
14. The method of claim 1, wherein: the sampling assembly comprises a sampling dispenser and a sampling valve disposed between the sampling pipe and the sampling dispenser; and dispensing the fluid sample of the fluid from the sampling pipe through the sampling assembly comprises opening the sampling valve to allow the fluid to flow through the sampling valve from the sampling pipe to the sampling dispenser.
15. The method of claim 14, wherein opening the sampling valve comprises operating a sampling actuator of the sampling valve.
16. The method of claim 15, wherein the sampling actuator is a manually-operable handle.
17. The method of claim 14, wherein dispensing the fluid sample of the fluid from the sampling pipe through the sampling assembly comprises dispensing the fluid sample into a collection container.
18. The method of claim 17, further comprising testing the fluid sample that is dispensed into the collection container.
19. The method of claim 1, wherein the fluid testing system further comprises a blow-off assembly, and wherein the method further comprising flushing contaminated fluid from the fluid piping system out through the blow-off assembly.
20. The method of claim 19, wherein: the blow-off assembly is oriented at an end of the sampling pipe; the blow-off assembly comprises a blow-off valve and a blow-off opening; and flushing contaminated fluid from the fluid piping system out through the blow-off assembly comprises opening the blow-off valve and expelling the contaminated fluid through the blow-off opening.
21. The method of claim 1, wherein the sampling assembly further comprises a sampling valve and a sampling dispenser, and wherein dispensing the fluid sample comprises opening the sampling valve to permit fluid to flow from the sampling pipe to the sampling dispenser.
22. The method of claim 1, wherein the fluid testing system further comprises a blow-off valve at an end of the sampling pipe, and wherein the method further comprises opening the blow-off valve to flush fluid from the end of the sampling pipe.
