The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular tothereof, a new sports bag medical information device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeralwill be described.
As best illustrated in, the sports bag medical information devicegenerally comprises a storage container, a sealing arrangement, a connecting structure, and an information recording structure. The storage containeris designed to store medical information. The storage containerincludes a first container portionand a second container portion. The storage containeralso includes a hingeconnected to the first container portionand the second container portion. The hingeis designed to permit pivoting of the first container portionand the second container portionapart to an open position to permit access inside the storage container, as shown in. The hingealso permits pivoting of the first container portionand the second container portiontogether to a closed position to prevent access inside the storage container, as shown in. It should be noted that some components of the sports bag medical information deviceare described herein as being positioned on or as part of the first container portionor the second container portionfor convenience of explanation, but could be positioned on either of the first container portionor the second container portion.
The first container portionincludes a releasable locking tab. The second container portionincludes a locking slotdesigned to receive the releasable locking tabto releasably lock the first container portionand the second container portiontogether in the closed position. The releasable locking tabis shown in a representative manner in the figures and could be designed in a manner common to locking tab designs, such as having snap-fit side tabs or projections that could be pressed inwardly to permit insertion and removal of the releasable locking tabinto and out of the locking slot.
The first container portionand the second container portionhave similar designs and essentially form two halves of the storage container. The first container portionincludes a first planar bodyand first side wallspositioned transverse to and extending from the first planar body. The second container portionincludes a second planar bodyand second side wallspositioned transverse to and extending from the second planar body. The first planar bodyhas the same shape as the second planar bodysuch that the first side wallsmatch and engage the second side wallswhen the first container portionand the second container portionare in the closed position. The first planar bodyand the second planar bodyhave an octagonal shape, as shown in the figures, or could have a circular shape or other shape. As shown in, one or both of the first planar bodyand the second planar bodyhas a medical symbol printed thereon, such as a caduceusor cross or similar medical symbol, to indicate that medical information is located inside the storage container. This medical symbol will help third parties know that medical information or medical materials are located inside the storage container. The medical symbol is colored in a first color suitable to indicate medical information and the storage container is colored in a different second color, also suitable to indicate medical information, which is of high contrast to said first color. For example, the storage container could be colored white and the medical symbol could be common medical symbol colors, such as red or blue, or possibly the storage container could be colored a bright red or blue to draw attention to the storage container with the medical symbol in white.
The connecting structureis designed to connect the storage containerto a sports bag, such as a golf bagas shown in. The connecting structureincludes a tetherdesigned to support the storage containerin a suspended manner from the sports bag. In order to connect to the storage container, the first container portionincludes a first orificeand the second container portionincludes a second orificedesigned and positioned to be aligned when the first container portionand the second container portionare in the closed position to form a passage through the storage container. The tetherincludes a first end portiondesigned to loop through the passage and a second end portiondesigned to loop through a portion of the sports bag. As shown in, the first end portionincludes a first openingand a first retaining tabdesigned to be inserted into the first openingto releasably lock the first end portionin a first closed loop. The second end portionincludes a second openingand a second retaining tabdesigned to be inserted into the second openingto releasably lock the second end portionin a second closed loop.
The information recording structureis positioned in the storage containerand designed to display medical information of a user. In the embodiment shown in, the information recording structureis a writing pad attached to the second container portion. A user can write current and updated medical information on the writing pad so that a third party viewing the medical information has the most up-to-date information.
In order to protect the writing pad and the medical information written thereon from damage due to moisture, a sealing arrangementis designed and positioned to provide a waterproof seal between the first container portionand the second container portionwhen the first container portionand the second container portionare in the closed position. The sealing arrangementis connected to one of the first container portionand the second container portion. In the embodiment shown in, the sealing arrangementincludes a first rubber gasketconnected to the first container portionand a second rubber gasketconnected to the second container portion. The first side wallsof the first container portiontogether form a first channeldesigned to receive and contain the first rubber gasket. The second side wallsof the second container portiontogether form a second channeldesigned to receive and contain the second rubber gasket.shows a close-up cross-sectional view of a possible design of the second channeland the second rubber gasket, which design is also applicable to the first channeland the first rubber gasket.
In an alternative embodiment of the sports bag medical information device, a writing implementcould also be positioned in the storage containerand held by a receptacle structurepositioned in the second container portion. This would provide the user with easy access to a writing implement, such as a pen or pencil, to allow the user to always be able to record medical information. The writing implementand the receptacle structureare shown infor exemplary purposes, but could be omitted from other embodiments of the sports bag medical information device.
The sports bag medical information devicecan be used in emergency situations to communicate medical information to a third party when the user cannot communicate with the third party, such as a friend, family member, first responder, or medical professional.
