Detailed Description

Complete technical specification and implementation details from the patent document.

The invention relates to a blank and to a sleeve-shaped outer part formed from a blank for encasing a cup-shaped inner container and to a combination packaging container formed from an inner container and the outer part. The invention relates also to a method of manufacturing the combination packaging container and a method of separating the combination packaging container into its inner container and the outer part by separating the overlap area of the outer part.

Due to ever stricter environmental requirements, it is becoming increasingly important to separate the different materials according to type when recycling products in order to improve the recycling quality. In particular, the separation of the different materials according to type should be made as simple as possible so that any omissions or errors made by a person during the recycling process can be compensated for as far as possible.

WO 2020/245148 A1 from the same applicant describes a sleeve-shaped outer part formed from a blank of the generic type, the blank being wound to form a casing and its end portions being connected to one another in an overlap region. The sleeve-shaped outer part forms a combination packaging container together with a cup-shaped inner container. A predetermined separation area comprises an actuating means with a seizing portion for separating separation portions located on both sides. Viewed in the circumferential direction, the seizing portion is offset laterally with respect to the aligned separating portions and an imaginary straight connecting line between them. Between each end of the seizing portion and a respective end of the separating portions, a separate predetermined separating portion is formed in the casing of the outer part. With a combination packaging container configured in this way, it is necessary to actively separate the predetermined separation area in order to separate the sleeve-shaped outer part from the cup-shaped inner container and recycle them separately.

The object of the present invention was to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide a sleeve-shaped outer part and a combination packaging container comprising a cup-shaped inner container with a sleeve-shaped outer part surrounding it, in which the sleeve-shaped outer part can be easily removed from the inner container for recycling purposes.

This object is achieved by a device and a method according to the claims.

According to the invention, a blank is provided for an outer part for encasing a cup-shaped inner container, wherein the inner container has a container casing which has an open end and an end closed by a bottom,

The adhesive layer is dimensioned in such a way that the first end portion and the second end portion in the overlap area at the adhesive layer can be detached from each other again from the coupled state.

The blank according to the invention has the surprising advantage that a detachable adhesive layer can be used to improve the separation of the blank and a cup-shaped inner container wrapped with the blank.

According to the invention, an outer part is provided for encasing a cup-shaped inner container, the inner container having a container casing which has an open end and an end closed by a bottom, the outer part being formed from a blank, which blank has a first end portion and a second end portion, the blank being wound to form a casing and the first end portion and the second end portion being coupled to one another in an overlap region by means consisting of an adhesive layer consisting of an adhesive.

Furthermore, the outer part has a first front side and a second front side and the two front sides are spaced apart, wherein the adhesive layer has a longitudinal extension in a direction starting from the first front side to the second front side.

The adhesive layer is arranged in the overlap area between the first end portion and the second end portion and contacts the first end portion and the second end portion. The adhesive layer is dimensioned in such a way that the first end portion and the second end portion in the overlap area at the adhesive layer can be detached from each other.

The outer part according to the invention has the surprising advantage that a detachable adhesive layer can be used to improve the separation of the outer part and a cup-shaped inner container wrapped with the outer part.

Furthermore, it may be provided that a support layer of the blank is formed from a cellulose material, wherein the adhesive layer abuts directly against the support layer in the overlap area both at the first end portion and at the second end portion, wherein the cellulose material of the support layer has a tensile strength and wherein the adhesive of the adhesive layer has a peel strength,

Furthermore, it may be provided that the support layer has a tensile strength of between 2 N/mmand 20 N/mm, in particular between 5 N/mmand 15 N/mm, preferably between 8 N/mmand 12 N/mm.

In addition, it may be provided that the adhesive layer has at least a first adhesive segment and a second adhesive segment, which are interrupted from one another by a first interruption, the first adhesive segment having a first adhesive segment length. This has the advantage that the required adhesive contact surface per 100 mm of longitudinal extension can be adjusted more easily by interrupting the adhesive application without having to change the adhesive layer width and thus vary the adhesive nozzle.

The terms “first adhesive segment” and “second adhesive segment” refer to two adhesive segments arranged adjacent to each other. This does not necessarily mean that the first adhesive segment is the outermost adhesive segment.

The provision of interruptions also has the advantage that the amount of adhesive used can be reduced.

In particular, it may be provided that the first adhesive segment and the second adhesive segment have the same shape. Furthermore, it may be provided that, in addition to the first adhesive segment and the second adhesive segment, further adhesive segments are configured, the individual adhesive segments being arranged at a regular distance from one another. In other words, the distances between the individual adhesive segments may be the same.

Another advantageous embodiment is one in which the first adhesive segment and the second adhesive segment are configured in the form of dots, with the first adhesive segment having a first adhesive segment diameter and the second adhesive segment having a second adhesive segment diameter. The advantage of this is that it is easy to apply the adhesive in dots. In addition, the adhesive contact surface can be easily adjusted for an adhesive application in dots.

In particular, it may be provided that the first adhesive segment diameter and the second adhesive segment diameter have the same size.

According to an advancement, it is conceivable that the first adhesive segment diameter and the second adhesive segment diameter are between 0.5 mm and 15 mm, in particular between 1.5 mm and 9 mm, preferably between 2.5 mm and 6 mm. Especially with a standard paper quality of the cellulose material of the support layer, the desired effect of separating the outer part only in recycling can surprisingly be achieved with such a selected adhesive segment diameter.

Furthermore, it may be expedient if the first interruption has a first interruption distance, wherein the first interruption distance is between 100% and 1000%, in particular between 200% and 700%, preferably between 250% and 400% of the first adhesive segment diameter. Especially with a standard available paper quality of the cellulose material of the support layer, the desired effect of separating the outer part only in recycling can surprisingly be achieved with such a selected interruption distance.

In an alternative embodiment, it may be provided that the first adhesive segment length is between 0.5 mm and 15 mm, in particular between 1 mm and 9 mm, preferably between 1.5 mm and 3 mm.

Furthermore, it may be provided that the first interruption has a first interruption distance, wherein the first interruption distance is between 1 mm and 25 mm, in particular between 8 mm and 20 mm, preferably between 13 mm and 18 mm.

Furthermore, it may be provided that the first adhesive segment length is between 0.5 mm and 15 mm, in particular between 1 mm and 9 mm, preferably between 1.5 mm and 3 mm, and at the same time the first interruption distance is between 1 mm and 25 mm, in particular between 8 mm and 20 mm, preferably between 13 mm and 18 mm. Surprisingly, especially with such dimensions, it has been shown that, on the one hand, sufficient durability and, at the same time, good releasability of the first end portion and the second end portion from each other can be achieved.

In addition, it may be provided that the adhesive layer has an adhesive contact surface, the adhesive contact surface being between 20 mmand 500 mmper 100 mm in the longitudinal extension, in particular between 50 mmand 200 mmper 100 mm in the longitudinal extension, preferably between 80 mmand 150 mmper 100 mm in the longitudinal extension. Especially with a standard paper quality of the cellulose material of the support layer, the desired effect of separating the outer part only in recycling can surprisingly be achieved with such a selected adhesive contact surface.

Furthermore, it may be provided that a glue layer is configured in addition to the adhesive layer, wherein the adhesive layer comprises a hot-melt adhesive and wherein the glue layer comprises a cold glue. The combination consisting of an adhesive layer with a hot-melt adhesive and a glue layer with a cold glue has the advantage that the first end portion and the second end portion can be fixed to each other quickly when the adhesive joint is produced using the hot-melt adhesive, so that the production time can be reduced. The cold glue can be used to achieve a temperature-resistant connection between the first end portion and the second end portion, which does not detach even at elevated temperatures. At these elevated temperatures, the hot-melt adhesive may detach.

In an alternative embodiment, it may also be provided that the adhesive layer comprises a cold glue and that the glue layer comprises a hot-melt adhesive.

Furthermore, it may be provided that the adhesive layer and the glue layer are arranged laterally offset to one another with respect to the longitudinal extension. This has the advantage that the adhesive layer and the glue layer can be applied easily.

In addition, it may be provided that the adhesive layer has at least a first adhesive segment and a second adhesive segment, as seen over the longitudinal extension, which are interrupted from one another by a first interruption, wherein the first adhesive segment has a first adhesive segment length, and that the adhesive layer has at least a first adhesive segment and a second adhesive segment, as seen over the longitudinal extension, which are interrupted from one another by a first adhesive layer interruption, wherein the first adhesive segment has a first adhesive segment length. Surprisingly, especially with such dimensions, it has been shown that, on the one hand, sufficient durability and, at the same time, good releasability of the first end portion and the second end portion from each other can be achieved.

Furthermore, it may be provided that the that the first adhesive segment length is between 0.5 mm and 15 mm, in particular between 1 mm and 9 mm, preferably between 1.5 mm and 3 mm, and at the same time the first interruption distance is between 1 mm and 25 mm, in particular between 8 mm and 20 mm, preferably between 13 mm and 18 mm, and in that the first glue segment length is between 0.5 mm and 20 mm, in particular between 1 mm and 15 mm, preferably between 4 mm and 9 mm. Surprisingly, especially with such dimensions, it has been shown that, on the one hand, sufficient durability and, at the same time, good releasability of the first end portion and the second end portion from each other can be achieved.

In particular, it may be provided that one glue segment is arranged only in the edge area.

In addition, it may be provided that an adhesive layer width is between 0.3 mm and 3 mm, in particular between 0.5 mm and 2 mm, preferably between 0.9 mm and 1.5 mm.

Furthermore, it may be provided that the glue layer width is between 0.3 mm and 3 mm, in particular between 0.5 mm and 2 mm, preferably between 0.9 mm and 1.5 mm.

In a first exemplary embodiment, it may be provided that the adhesive layer is arranged between the glue layer and the first longitudinal edge.

In an alternative exemplary embodiment, it may also be provided that the glue layer is arranged between the adhesive layer and the first longitudinal edge.

According to the invention, a combination packaging container is configured. The combination packaging container includes:

The adhesive layer is dimensioned in such a way that the first end portion and the second end portion in the overlap area at the adhesive layer can be detached from each other.

The combination packaging container according to the invention has the surprising advantage that a detachable adhesive layer can be used to improve the separation of the outer part and the inner container wrapped with the outer part when the container is disposed of. In particular, the measures according to the invention may be used to achieve an automated separation of the outer part from the inner container if the combination packaging container is excessively deformed when empty, as is the case, for example, when transporting waste. This results in a complete separation of the outer part from the inner container. This means that the recyclability of the combination packaging container can also be achieved if the end user does not consciously separate the outer part from the inner container in order to dispose of them separately. The structure of the combination packaging container according to the invention makes it possible to prevent undesired detachment of the outer part from the inner container when the combination packaging container is full and to improve separability when the container is disposed of.

According to a particular embodiment, it is conceivable that the adhesive layer is configured in such a way that when the outer part is separated from the inner container, the first end portion of the outer part and the second end portion of the outer part are detached from each other in the overlap area at the adhesive layer, parts of a support layer of the blank being torn out at the first end portion and/or at the second end portion and remaining adhered to the adhesive layer. This has the advantage that the desired separating force can be predicted or set relatively accurately with this type of separation mechanism.

According to the invention, a method for producing a combination packaging container is provided. The method comprises the following method steps:

The adhesive layer is configured in such a way that the first end portion and the second end portion in the overlap area at the adhesive layer can be detached from each other.

In a first embodiment, it may be provided that the molding of the outer part and bonding of the first end portion and the second end portion in an overlap region by means consisting of an adhesive layer is carried out in a separate method step, and the outer part thus molded is only pushed onto the inner container by axial displacement in a further method step.

In an alternative configuration, it is also conceivable that the outer part is wound or molded directly onto the inner container. The inner container may be attached to a winding mandrel.

The method according to the invention has the surprising advantage that a detachable adhesive layer can be used to improve the separation of the outer part and the inner container wrapped with the outer part when the container is disposed of. In particular, the measures according to the invention may be used to achieve an automated separation of the outer part from the inner container if the combination packaging container is excessively deformed when empty, as is the case, for example, when transporting waste. This results in a complete separation of the outer part from the inner container. This means that the recyclability of the packaging container can also be achieved if the end user does not consciously separate the outer part from the inner container in order to dispose of them separately. The structure of the combination packaging container according to the invention makes it possible to prevent undesired detachment of the outer part from the inner container when the combination packaging container is full and to improve separability when the container is disposed of.

In particular, it may be advantageous if a hot-melt adhesive is used to apply the adhesive layer to the blank, which is applied to an outer surface of the blank in the area of the first end portion before the outer part is molded. A hot-melt adhesive of this type can be applied to the blank in a simplified manner and also offers improved release properties. The adhesive layer may be formed from a hot-melt adhesive, for example a thermoplastic hot-melt adhesive. The advantage of a hot melt adhesive is that it hardens quickly after application and therefore when it cools down, so that a short cycle time can be achieved.

A glue layer may be configured in addition to the adhesive layer. The glue layer may be a layer consisting of cold glue. In particular, the glue layer may be formed from a white glue. Such white glue may contain polyvinyl acetate as a binder. In particular, this may be a thermoplastic dispersion adhesive. The advantage of this type of cold glue is that it can be heat-resistant, so that no undesirable detachment occurs during transportation or hot filling. Furthermore, it may be provided that an adhesive segment is assigned to each glue segment, in particular that the glue segment is arranged adjacent to the adhesive segment.

In an alternative embodiment, it may be provided that a glue segment and an adhesive segment alternate.

Furthermore, it may be provided that the adhesive layer is applied to the blank on an inner surface of the blank in the area of the second end portion before the outer part is molded.

In particular, it may be provided that the end portions of the blank are configured in such a way that the adhesive layer abuts directly against the support layer both at the first end portion and at the second end portion.
